DAILY CAMP PROCEDURES<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Day</strong><br />

The camp day runs from 9:00am – 4:15pm. AM and PM extended <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong>er Care programs are<br />

included as part <strong>of</strong> the session tuition. Check-in and Pick-up are based at the Pavilion. Once<br />

activity classes have started please report first to the Store/Office.<br />

Sunday Check-In Option<br />

Join us Sunday evening 5:30 – 6:30pm for a <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> Orientation prior to your camper’s arrival.<br />

<strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> Staff will be available to give tours, answer questions and receive camper forms.<br />

Orientation is not required, although <strong>of</strong>ten aids in a smooth Monday morning check-in.<br />

Morning Drop-Off<br />

AM <strong>Camp</strong>er Care 7:00 – 9:00am daily.<br />

Afternoon Pick-Up<br />

Pick-up 4:15 – 6:00pm daily. Anyone picking up a camper must be listed on child's Authorized<br />

Pick-up List and must present proper photo identification.<br />

Transportation<br />

Families may arrive by car or boat. When arriving by car please remember to keep the driveway<br />

clear and the speed limit through camp is 5mph. When arriving by boat please tie up to the Y dock<br />

and proceed to the Pavilion. <strong>Camp</strong> Cory does not <strong>of</strong>fer transportation for <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Camp</strong>ers.<br />

Sick Child Policy<br />

Please do not send your child to camp if he/she is sick and/or running a fever. If a child becomes ill<br />

during camp, a parent or person authorized to pick-up will be contacted to pick-up the child.<br />

Children must be symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning. A doctor's note may be<br />

required for your child to return to camp.


<strong>Camp</strong>er T-Shirt<br />

T<br />

Each registered camper will receive a <strong>Camp</strong> t-shirt as part <strong>of</strong> their registration. <strong>Camp</strong> t-shirts will<br />

be distributed to each camper during their first session in attendance.<br />

Cell Phone/Electronics Policy<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> is a cell-phone and electronic free zone. If cell phones come to camp, they must remain<br />

safely in a backpack or held for safekeeping at the camp <strong>of</strong>fice. Remember the <strong>YMCA</strong> is not<br />

responsible for the loss or damage <strong>of</strong> any personal item.<br />

Rainy <strong>Day</strong>s<br />

<strong>Camp</strong>ers will take part in a full scheduled program <strong>of</strong> activities regardless <strong>of</strong> the weather. We are<br />

prepared with a rainy day schedule for each group which focuses on crafts, group games, and<br />

special events. Be sure to dress campers appropriately for the weather.<br />

Late Night / <strong>Camp</strong> Out Option<br />

Tuesdays <strong>of</strong> sessions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 <strong>of</strong>fer the opportunity for campers to extend their stay into the<br />

evening. Late Night, recommended for campers age 5+, includes dinner and evening activities with<br />

pick-up at 9:15pm. <strong>Camp</strong> Out, recommended for campers age 7 – 13, includes 3 meals, evening<br />

activities, and sleep over. Payment and the <strong>2013</strong> <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> Late Night/<strong>Camp</strong> Out Form is required<br />

to register and will take place Monday at camp during each odd numbered session.<br />

What to Pack<br />

We advise packing the following items in your camper's backpack each day. Please be sure to<br />

clearly label everything with your camper's first and last name. There is no formal uniform at camp.<br />

Please dress your child in a t-shirt and shorts every day. Sneakers are required footwear for all<br />

camp activities. Open-toed sandals/flip flops will only be worn to the waterfront.<br />

• Bag lunch<br />

• Swimsuit and towel<br />

• Plastic bag for wet clothes<br />

• Extra set <strong>of</strong> clothes (recommended for campers entering 2nd grade and below)<br />

• Sunscreen lotion, hat, and water bottle<br />

• Sweatshirt<br />

• Water shoes<br />

• Raingear<br />

• Sneakers<br />

Lost and Found<br />

Misplaced items are common among elementary school age children. You can help limit lost items<br />

by following these procedures:<br />

• Label all belongings with camper’s first and last name.<br />

• Remind each child to check his/her belongings at the end <strong>of</strong> each day.<br />

• If something is lost, check the lost and found as soon as possible.<br />

• Notify camp staff upon sign-in/sign-out regarding lost items or speak with your child’s<br />

counselor.<br />

• All lost and found not claimed after by the last day <strong>of</strong> camp will be donated to a charitable<br />

organization.<br />

• The <strong>YMCA</strong> is not responsible for lost, stolen, broken, or destroyed items.


Sunscreen/Insect Repellent<br />

All campers should apply sunscreen in the morning prior to arriving at camp. Staff will assist<br />

campers with applying their own sunscreen after morning and afternoon swim periods. In order to<br />

comply with child abuse prevention guidelines, the application <strong>of</strong> sunscreen will take place in an<br />

open setting. We recommend that each camper keep their own bottle <strong>of</strong> sunscreen lotion in their<br />

backpack labeled with their first and last name. Because campers spend a large part <strong>of</strong> their day<br />

outside, we recommend camper's use the following precautions:<br />

• Wear a hat to protect them from the sun.<br />

• Wear approved swim shirts while participating in swim periods.<br />

• Have their own personal bottle <strong>of</strong> sunscreen available<br />

MEDICAL AND HEALTH INFORMATION<br />

The <strong>2013</strong> <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> Health Form (2 pages) is to be submitted the first day <strong>of</strong> camp.<br />

Medications<br />

It is preferable that prescription medications be administered at home when possible. <strong>Camp</strong>ers who<br />

require medications will need to submit additional information and meet the camp nurse.<br />

All medication must be in its original container and clearly labeled with campers first and last<br />

name. WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY MEDICATIONS THAT ARE NOT IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINER.<br />

Immunization History<br />

New York State Department <strong>of</strong> Health requires each camp to keep a current copy <strong>of</strong> every camper’s<br />

immunization history on file in order for them to attend. A complete copy <strong>of</strong> your child’s<br />

immunization history should be submitted with the Health Form. CAMPERS WITHOUT AN<br />

IMMUNIZATION HISTORY ON FILE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND.<br />

Emergencies<br />

Our staff is trained in handling a variety <strong>of</strong> emergency situations. In the event <strong>of</strong> an emergency, we<br />

will make every attempt to notify parents immediately. If necessary, emergency transportation will<br />

be handled by local emergency services.<br />

Daily Snack<br />

The Y is committed to healthy living and modeling healthy eating. A healthy afternoon nut-aware<br />

snack will be provided for all campers.<br />

PAYMENT OPTIONS AND PROCEDURES<br />

Payments are due in full by June 1, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

Easy Payment Option<br />

The Easy Payment Option (EFT) is the preferred billing method. Simply provide a credit or debit card<br />

and tuition will be automatically paid June 1, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

Changes in Registration<br />

<strong>Parent</strong>s are responsible for informing the camp <strong>of</strong>fice in writing <strong>of</strong> all changes to camper<br />

registration and updating contact details including address and phone numbers.


Cancellations & Refunds<br />

We require written notice <strong>of</strong> session cancellation, e-mails are acceptable. If you cancel prior June<br />

1, <strong>2013</strong>, you will receive a refund for any monies paid less the $25 deposit. If canceling after June<br />

1, <strong>2013</strong>, there will be NO refund.<br />

No refunds will be made for children sent home due to: homesickness; disruptive behavior; or<br />

possession, use or sale <strong>of</strong> drugs (including alcohol or tobacco). There is zero tolerance for illegal<br />

behaviors on <strong>Camp</strong> Cory property.<br />

Financial Assistance<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> Cory’s financial assistance program is made possible through generous donations to the<br />

<strong>YMCA</strong>’s Annual <strong>Camp</strong>aign. Applications for assistance are confidential and available on our website<br />

or by calling the <strong>Camp</strong> Office. The amount <strong>of</strong> assistance granted is based on individual need and<br />

family circumstance.<br />

Financial assistance applications are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Complete<br />

applications should be submitted to the Business Office. Please allow 3 weeks for a determination<br />

to be made.<br />

CAMPER RELEASE PROCEDURES<br />

The following procedures are in place for your child’s safety and will be employed during the camp<br />

season. Anyone picking up a camper must be on the camper’s Authorized Pick-Up list and MUST<br />

present photo identification before a camper will be released. Acceptable forms <strong>of</strong> ID include:<br />

• A driver’s license or state non-driver ID<br />

• A passport or military ID<br />

• An Employment Identification Card<br />

Authorized Pick-up List<br />

Only those people listed on the <strong>2013</strong> <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> Authorized Persons Form will be permitted to<br />

sign-out campers with proper identification. No notes will be accepted at the time <strong>of</strong> pick-up. In<br />

order to add or change authorized persons, please send a note to the <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> Director, to be file<br />

at the camp <strong>of</strong>fice, prior to the pick-up date.<br />

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS<br />

Behavior Policy<br />

Our camp is dedicated to providing every camper with a positive summer experience. We have a set<br />

<strong>of</strong> community standards and expectations for behavior which all camp participants must follow,<br />

including a strict no bullying policy. Our leadership team addresses all incidents <strong>of</strong> bullying<br />

seriously and encourages campers, staff, and parents to alert us to any problems during the camp<br />

season. It is our goal to ensure that all participants in our community gain self-confidence, make<br />

new friends, and go home with a magical and memorable experience.<br />

At <strong>Camp</strong>, we expect campers to:<br />

• Follow the rules that instructors set out for each activity, area, or project.<br />

• Remain on the camp property and with their assigned group at all times until properly signed out<br />

by authorized persons.


• Use appropriate language and be respectful to staff and other campers.<br />

• Use all camp facilities and equipment properly.<br />

• Refrain from fighting and any form <strong>of</strong> physical or verbal aggression.<br />

• Be a positive and active participant in all camp activities.<br />

Prohibited Items<br />

The following items will be confiscated by <strong>YMCA</strong> Staff and held in the <strong>of</strong>fice for parents to retrieve<br />

at the end <strong>of</strong> the camp day.<br />

• Tobacco, alcohol, drugs<br />

• Trading/playing cards<br />

• Electronic games or devices (including cell phones)<br />

• Cell phones<br />

• Valuables (<strong>YMCA</strong> is not responsible for lost or stolen items)<br />

• Personal toys or games<br />

• Weapons (play or real)<br />

• Candy, gum, cough drops (due to food allergies, campers should not bring candy or snacks to<br />

share)<br />

• Animals<br />

Behavioral Consequences<br />

<strong>Camp</strong>ers not adhering to camp behavior standards will be handled on an individual basis. Frequent<br />

or severe violations may result in suspension or expulsion from the program at the discretion <strong>of</strong><br />

the camp director. No refunds will be given due to expulsion or suspensions.
