2012 GYMNASTICS SUMMER CAMP Gymnastics Camp Entering Grades K-6 Monday-Friday During weeks 1,4,6, & 8 in the summer Gymnastic/Cheer Camp is a great way to experience rolling, twisting, and flipping in a fun way. Each session is one week long and taught by our experienced coaches. On Friday, gymnasts will perform a dance routine for the parents. Other activities will also take place throughout the day; Mystery Cavern, swimming, Gulick Gym, etc. Sign up for Gymnastic Camp at the Welcome Center Desk today! WHAT TO EXPECT Gymnastics is an exciting sport that incorporates discipline and fun while learning how to flip, twist, and roll. The gymnasts program will teach you how to properly stretch and warm up muscles to help prevent injuries. They will also learn conditioning exercises to help strengthen their muscles. The Tikes, Toddler and Level one classes are a critical step in gymnastics and it is important to have this solid foundation. The average time a gymnast spends in a level is 6-12 months and can be even longer as you move up to higher levels. Parents and children alike should expect to be in level one for at least 3-5 sessions with practice at home on basic skills stretching and strengthening. Our ultimate goal in gymnastics is to teach children a fun way to keep in shape. If the child is in gymnastics for a fun way to learn how to flip or to compete, the Y is a great place to start. Our goal is to have children smiling, laughing and learning. GYMNASTICS PRESCHOOL TODDLER Toddlers work with coaches to teach children basic skills. Children will work on all apparatus (bars, beam, springboard & floor mats). We emphasize giving children a positive introduction to gymnastics. Increasing strength, balance and confidence. Age Requirement: 3 year old & potty trained (w/out parent) Fees: YMCA Members Rate: $50 Program Members Rate: $80 Program No. Day Time 07112-03 (YMCA Gym) Mon. 5:30-6:15 p.m. 07112-05 (YMCA Gym) Thurs. 5:30-6:15 p.m. YOUTH TUMBLING CLASS This class focuses on beginner to advanced cheer tumbling skills. No gymnastics background required. Age Requirement: 9 years & older Fees: YMCA Member $50 Program Members $80 Location: YMCA Gym Program No. Day Time 07230-54 Mon. 6:30-7:30 p.m. TIKE No previous experience necessary. Children will learn gymnastic terminology and become familiar with gymnastic equipment aiding in balance, strength & confidence. Children will work on all apparatus (bars, beam spring board & floor mats) We emphasize introducing children to skills necessary to continue in our progressive gymnastics program.
