WHAT TO EXPECT
Gymnastics is an exciting sport that incorporates discipline and fun while learning how to flip,
twist, and roll. The gymnasts program will teach you how to properly stretch and warm up muscles
to help prevent injuries. They will also learn conditioning exercises to help strengthen their
muscles. The Tikes, Toddler and Level one classes are a critical step in gymnastics and it is
important to have this solid foundation. The average time a gymnast spends in a level is
6-12 months and can be even longer as you move up to higher levels. Parents and children alike
should expect to be in level one for at least 3-5 sessions with practice at home on
basic skills stretching and strengthening. Our ultimate goal in gymnastics is to teach children a
fun way to keep in shape. If the child is in gymnastics for a fun way to learn how to flip or to
compete, the Y is a great place to start. Our goal is to have children smiling, laughing and
learning.
