This is an exciting time to be a member of the
Bay View Family YMCA and I hope that you will
explore all the possibilities that await you! At the
Y, you are part of a family, a community, and an
organization that has served the Greater Rochester
area for more than 150 years. The Y is a diverse
organization of men, women, and children joined
together by a shared commitment to nurturing
the potential of kids, promoting healthy living, and
fostering a sense of social responsibility.
One of our most enriching youth development
programs is summer camp, and as members,
you have a unique opportunity to sample many
different Y camping programs. While fun and skill
development are at the heart of all of our camp
programs, our campers also learn important values
like caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility,
which are woven within activities every day at
summer camp. So, join us for a premiere day
camp experience right here at Camp Bay View
or experience an overnight camping adventure at
YMCA Camp Gorham in the Adirondacks or at YMCA
Camp Cory on Keuka Lake.
We are so excited to “Cut the Ribbon” on our stateof-the-art
climbing campus that has risen from
the ashes of our climbing castle. The campus is
100 percent wheelchair accessible (we have also
made a great portion of camp accessible) and the
boulder playground even features sensory friendly
surfaces for children on the Autism spectrum. The
Dual Zip Lines and the technology they employ
are the first of their kind at any Y camp in North
America! You will also still find a three sided rock
wall that exceeds thirty feet and can accommodate
5 climbers at a time. Watch for upcoming programs
and member time to enjoy the climbing campus.
The Y is a cause for strengthening communities,
and we rely on the support of our generous
volunteers to help us deliver the benefits of
good health, strong connections, greater selfconfidence,
and a sense of security to all who seek
it. When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active
role in bringing about enduring change right in your
own neighborhood. If you’re interested in being a
part of our volunteer team, please inquire about
opportunities with any of our Y staff members.
We hope you will agree that the Y is much more
than a place to work out and participate in
programs. We truly are a community and a family,
and we’re so happy to have
you as a part of it!
Best Wishes,
Offered at 12 locations within the East
Irondequoit, Penfield, and Webster School
Districts, the YMCA Before and After School
Program is a convenient before and after-school
child care option. Rather than staying home
alone before or after school, kids grades K to 12
years can enjoy safe, fun activities supervised
by trained, caring YMCA staff. Children enjoy
arts and crafts, sports and games, time to
do homework, special themes, and more
throughout the school year.
The YMCA’s Before and After School Program
is a unique partnership between elementary
schools, the YMCA, and the families participating
in the program. At the YMCA, we pride
ourselves in providing the best in values-based
programming.
We are committed to the core values of caring,
honesty, respect, and responsibility. We further
each child’s personal development through:
• Strengthening values and fostering personal
growth
• Building a sense of responsibility within the
community
• Encouraging and teaching respect for the
environment
• Developing an understanding of global issues
• Promoting healthy eating and living
