Turkka Keinonen, DA, is a professor of industrial design at Aalto University<br />

School of Arts, Design and Architecture. He has a Doctor of Arts degree<br />

from the University of Art and Design Helsinki (1998). He has worked <strong>for</strong><br />

several Finnish design consultancies, been a principal research scientist at<br />

Nokia Research Center and worked as a visiting professor at the National<br />

University of Singapore. He has published about 100 articles, conference<br />

papers, book chapters and patents. His research interests focus on user-centred<br />

industrial design..<br />

Jari-Pekka Kola, MA, is a Doctor of Arts candidate at Aalto University<br />

School of Arts, Design and Architecture.<br />

Tjhien Liao, MSc, obtained his MSc in Industrial Design Engineering at the<br />

Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, in 2005. He has worked<br />

in the fields of mobile gaming, serious gaming, web-search technology<br />

and supportive educational technology. He is currently a doctoral candidate<br />

at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. His<br />

research focuses on the role of scenarios and “storied” design in the public<br />

presentation of design work.<br />

Tuuli Mattelmäki, DA, industrial designer, is an associate professor at Aalto<br />

University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, where she also leads<br />

the Engaging Co-design Research (ENCORE) group. Be<strong>for</strong>e this position she<br />

worked in Aalto Service Factory as an academic community director. Her<br />

research interests focus on empathic design, user-centred and co-design<br />

approaches, and designing <strong>for</strong> services, and she has published widely<br />

on these topics. Her work, especially on Design Probes, is widely known<br />

internationally within design research. In 2008, she was named industrial<br />

designer of the year in Finland.<br />
