neighbourhood’s social <strong>wellbeing</strong>. While aiming at social <strong>wellbeing</strong>, design<br />

can create processes, systems, opportunities and mental or physical places<br />

<strong>for</strong> inhabitants’ activities. Through an open design process it is possible<br />

to enter an unknown area, but the designers have to trust residents’ input<br />

to guide the process. The knowledge emerges during the process and by<br />

observing and listening to residents, and by collecting their insights, it is<br />

possible to discover a new perspective on an area’s opportunities, as well<br />

as further design possibilities <strong>for</strong> social <strong>wellbeing</strong>.<br />
