residents and
representatives of
young and elderly
In this first stage the Head Designer Team
(HDT) aims to create a consciousness
and belonging sense to the territory and
the context of Kannelmaki, mapping the
neighborhood from a physical point of
view to a more human side, where
emerge the flows of people and the
meeting points.
It is expected to define the neighborhood
needs as well as to shape a starting point
for the developing of feasible and useful
activities/services.
The inhabitants are
asked to partecipate to
The people see the check-list and potentially fill up
the list of the missing things (from 10/30 to 30/30 in
the example) to achieve the 100% of the things
needed and/or the funds, among money, equipment
and other values.
team of designers and professionals
which researches on contexts latent
and explicit needs and propose
cohesive activities. It also manage,
organizes and coordinates the whole
PSS process.
The HDT starts the structuring of the activity, defining
costs and equipments needed to achieve it. First are
searched possible fundings from stakeholders as the
city of Helsinki and other institutions/agencies
The funds given by the City of Helsinki and the P.E.S.
are not enough to start-up the activity. In this case,
always through the facilities/website on a timed
feedbacks base, is asked to the people to fill up the
list of equipment needed for that activity, giving so,
a direct value, enhancing their participation,
involvement and sense of community
1° DRAFT ADVERTISING
Now that the activity has been fully funded, the HDT structures a logistic planning of the activity, defining agenda and
meeting points. When everything is ready, it starts the activity advertising (using the Website and facilities platform) to
involve the Kannelmaki residents to partecipate.
WEBSITE
PSS process phases and to
facilitate the actors’
interaction
After a first draft idea generation of a
useful activity from the HDT, the Kannelmaki
inhabitants are asked to give their
feedback on it, using sharing platform as
a online Website and an infopoint/facility
to facilitate a subsequent collection and
reprocessing of them, going through a
deeper development of the activity,
making it more concrete and usable.
PLANNING AND
3 START-UP
The costs of the activity are fully covered by the
municipality istitutions and P.E.S. In this case the
process can skip one step (the one described in
“opportunity #1”) and go straight to the final logistic
planning part.
ACTIVITY DRAFTING
AND SHARING
Defining final aspects, final implementation
and logistic planning.
Performance of the activity studied and in order to
create social cohesion and intergenerational
dialogue
At the end of activity the inhabitants are asked to
give feebacks on the organization quality and in
general what they liked or not about the
performance, in order to structure a running
improvement process.
The activity happens in the fixed venue; this phase
involve the HDT and, eventually, the stakeholders in
the event coordination and the inhabitants who
decided to join the activity.
By the achievement of it and the advertising, which
still goes on, the funding stakeholders will have their
image value return.
From the reprocessing of these
feedbacks and the continuous
context analysis, the whole process
starts again and develops as a loop.
ACHIEVEMENT
4 AND RETURN
The completely planned activity is sponsorised
online and in the infopoint/facilities (before the
people could even have choosed a favourite place
for the activity to be done). So the people who
want to take part is able to know all the details as
exactly when, where and how the event/activity
will be on.
