WE FLY
365 DAYS A YEAR
From the icy peaks of the Tien Shan Mountains to the tropical coastline of South America,
Ozone Team Pilots fly every single day of the year. It’s our life and our passion, and we’re
grateful to be able to share it with you.

OZONE ADVENTURE
Inspired by Nature, Driven by the Elements.
These are the ingredients for adventure.
We live in an amazing time. Technology has given us the resources to create ultra-light flying
machines that can access the wildest landscapes on our planet. Your Ozone wing will take
you to the highest peaks on earth, to surf the hottest desert sands or to look down upon
the most savage and inaccessible wildlands… just point it in the right direction, and go.
But going is the key: Don’t wait - live your adventure now.

Turbulence at
7750 meters / 25,420 feet!
The biggest mountains on earth naturally provide some of the largest and most intense thermals
that paragliders have ever flown in, and naturally, we think, the biggest and most daring flights in the
Himalaya have all been made on Ozone wings!
The tradition began when Rob Whittall, one of the founders of Ozone, made a historic vol bivouac
flight across the Indian Himalaya with Bob Drury in 1999. Many more Himalayan adventures were
made, including Ozone Team pilots Claire and Zeb Rocher launching from the summit of Everest
with their Ozone tandem in 2000. In 2006 the envelope was pushed again by two French pilots,
Philippe Nodet and Julien Wirtz, who made one of the most extreme Vol Bivouac flights in the history
of paragliding, during which they circumnavigated Nanga Parbat, flew over the Trango Towers,
and crossed the Hispar Glacier (the world’s largest) completely unsupported and alone. Both were
flying Ozone Addict R’s.
The 2008 season saw even more action, with Philippe returning to the Fann and Turkestan range for
a 500km vol-biv flight, and most notably, the adventures of John Silvester and Brad Sander.
John Silvester is the most experienced pilot in the Himalaya, with countless massive flights under
his belt and over a decade of experience in the region. John returned to Pakistan with an Addict 2
and completed the Chomolungma crossing from Hunza to Skardu, considered to be perhaps the
most challenging XC task in the world. For more info and video of John’s trip, go to the downloads
page of www.flyozone.com.
Although Brad Sander was still half a decade away from becoming a pilot when Jon Silvester first
flew in the Himalaya, he is now the holder of a Himalayan (and probably world) altitude record, set
during one of the most incredible flights ever made – a 9 hour, 249km crossing from Booni to Hunza
through the Hindukush Mountains, up to altitudes of 7750m (25,420ft) Brad spent a major part of
2008 exploring the atmosphere of Pakistan on his new Addict 2 Lite; to see more photos check the
download section and also the Ozone Team Blog, at teamblog.flyozone.com.
XRidair
1001 Alpine
Kilometers
One year ago, three 19 year olds
spent their summer in the mountains
of Kyrgyzstan, walking and flying
through the rugged and roadless Tien
Shan Mountains, armed only with
Geo II’s and some food. This year,
the same trio decided to explore the
details of their home mountain range,
the Alps, and flew from the farthest
eastern edge in Slovenia all the way
to the Mediterranean Coast at Monaco
during thirty-seven days of vol-biv
flying. Alex Jofresa, Martin Bonis, and
Fred Pieri all flew Addict 2’s during their
adventure.
Luc Armant
FLUID DYNAMICS EXPERT, HYDROLOGIST, VOL BIVOUAC LEGEND
Why do we fly?
It’s a simple question and
perhaps one that doesn’t
even need to be asked. But
we did ask, and your answers
were beautiful and inspiring.
In 2008 Ozone welcomed Luc Armant to be a part of our test and design
team, working alongside Chief Designer and Test Pilot Dav Dagault, and Test
Pilot Russ Ogden. Luc comes from a scientific background and is a specialist
in fluid dynamics. He has also been recognized as one of the world’s most
accomplished adventure pilots since he flew over 1080km (straight distance) in
the Himalaya, completely self-supported and alone. The commitment and skill
necessary for this flight is almost incomprehensible. It is now the longest self
supported vol-bivouac flight in history, completed in absolutely wild terrain.
Sai Sai / Zero Emission World Tours
1 boat, 2 pilots, a quiver of Ozone wings and a plan to circumnavigate the globe; the
Sai Sai World Tour is the brainchild of Ozone Team Pilot Olivier Laugero and his sailing
compatriot, ‘Rotule’. The duo departed France in the fall of 2008 with a simple mission
and the realization of a dream: Sail the globe, and fly as much as possible. As you read
this, they might be Paragliding the coastal cliffs of Africa or Kite Surfing in the middle of
the Atlantic Ocean, find out at www.saisaiworldtour.com.
Olivier Peyre of France has embarked upon a zero-emissions tour of planet
earth. His goal is to fly, bike, and sail around the globe using only the power of
his own two legs and the elements. Olivier departed from his home in central
France and pedalled to and then across Spain, sailed into Africa and is currently
biking across that continent. Not in a hurry, he intends to spend the next several
years on his journey, perhaps arriving home sometime in 2011. Check out the
Comp pilots. See page 38.
PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
Custom Colours
Don’t like our colours? Want to stand out more in the gaggle? It’s
now super easy to visualize your own custom glider colours. Every
glider page on www.flyozone.com now allows you to choose
your own colour layout and for a small additional charge the factory
will make the glider custom for you. Just go to a glider’s page and
click “Custom Colours” on the left side.
The Pro’s Choice is now even more pro with the addition
of the new 38m size. Details on page 36.
Felix Rodriguez’s signature wing has been updated to be
easier in every manoeuvre . See page 40.
Foot launched speed flying is rapidly growing in popularity
as more and more pilots discover the fun of higher
wind soaring, and high speed sled rides. The new XT16
Cross Terrain wing is for pilots new to the sport and pilots who want to expand
their flyable weather window and airborne experience. Page 44.
The Ultralite Series
The World’s Lightest Paraglider has spawned a family
of wings that have left the competition sitting in base
camp. The 19m, 23m, and 25m sizes are all certified
LTF 1-2, and the 16m is also available for pilots
who are ultra-serious about light weight. In 2009, the UL series will
be updated with a hard finish ultralight cloth in all ribs across the
span, making for weight savings in every size (180gm on the 23m).
Ultralites have now been deployed to almost every continent, from
the equator to the Arctic Circle and Himalayan peaks.
11

Speed-Flying is the newest dimension of paragliding. Using wings that range in size from 7.7 to 16
meters square. Although it may look difficult and extremely fast, speed-flying is actually very simple
and well within the abilities of most intermediate to advanced pilots. Speed-flying wings are easy to
launch and land and their in-flight characteristics are easy to learn with just a few flights. Pilots need
only to acquaint themselves with the different glide angle and turn behaviour of these smaller wings
while beginning in safe terrain in order to reach a competent level of speed-flying.
The Speed Series
The sport of Speed Flying has expanded and evolved, and Ozone has maintained a leading position
with three new wings for 2009.
»»
The XT16 for Foot Launched Speed Flying: The XT16 is the perfect opportunity for pilots of good
to expert ability who want to experience high wind soaring and swooping terrain. Large enough
to launch easily and land slowly, the XT16 is the perfect link between your paraglider and the
smaller varieties of speed wings.
»»
The Bullet 09 has been updated with new colours and logos for the 2009 season. The classic
choice for ski launched speed riding, many pilots also now love to foot launch the Bullet 09.
»»
The Bullet GT, for Speed riding, is available in 7.7 and 9.8m sizes, for pilots who want more
speed and less glide.
The FLX Series
In 2007 Felix Rodriguez joined the Ozone Team and immediately started work on a new
series of wings. The FLX.2 and OctaneFLX are designed for pilots who love acro and
freestyle flying.
Now in its second generation and new for 2009, the FLX.2 is a high
end competition acro wing for experienced acro pilots. It is capable
of every manoeuvre currently possible, including the infinite tumble, and is designed to
withstand the stresses of the most intense acro flying for hundreds of flights.
The OctaneFLX is inspired by the original Ozone Classic, the Octane,
which defined the new age of paraglider handling at the birth of acro and
freestyle flying. The concept is simple: A freestyle / acro wing that does it all, with LTF 2 safety.
Available in 22m and 25m sizes.
OZONE TECHNOLOGICAL
SYSTEMS
Technology is the future, there is no doubt. But what
is the difference between technology and gimmicks?
The answer is marketing.
We spend more of our time testing and designing
wings than we do marketing them. We just prefer it
that way.
The hard truth is that the most important features in a
wing are invisible. Sail tension, for instance, has a massive
effect on performance and handling at every point
of your glider’s flight range. But you can’t touch it with
your fingers, or point to it in a photo. The amount of internal
construction (and thus weight) affects everything
from launching to incident recovery. And the amount
of lines on your wing is crucial to drag and glide performance.
We won’t be inventing marketing schemes
to push our breakthroughs in any of these categories,
but we think that you’ll feel them in the wing. Call us
simple, but we like it that way.
That being said, even Black Sheep sometimes want
to join in the fun that the rest of the flock is having,
and since everyone else has names for their gimmicks
we’ve decided to add some of our own:
13
The Ozone FUN System:
It’s a novel concept, and we’re proud to have
been the first to develop it. The FUN system has
two main ingredients: You, and your Wing. This
system allows you to explore and experience the
planet, and we recommend that you use it as
frequently as possible. The FUN system will help
you to remember that pleasure should always be
the motive! We fly because it’s FUN.
Black Sheep Technology: It’s not BS, it’s BST.
For some, technology is a gimmick*. For us, gimmicks are for laughs,
and we take technology seriously. Some try to hide their gimmicks by
giving them technical sounding acronyms**, and now we’ve decided to
use some acronyms because the boss asked why we didn’t have any!
What sets us apart from our competition is a distinct lack of gimmicks.
We realize that. But we’re fine with being different - it’s been that way
from the beginning and we prefer it that way. In fact, 10 years ago in
1998, Ozone was founded with Black Sheep Technology. If you want
more tech details, check our designer’s notes.
The BH / LBH Systems:
Now it’s time to get serious. Seriously. Not that we weren’t serious before.
But check this out: A few years ago we invented the Butthole, and
we’re really proud of it. We use our Buttholes a lot, and we think it’s an
exceedingly useful piece of technology that no one should be without.
And now we’ve taken it to a whole new level with the release of the Leaky
Butthole. This new piece of technology allows you to leave your Butthole
open to drain sand when dune soaring, or to allow debris to clear from
your wing automatically while in flight. It’s just another piece of hardcore
technology from your friends at Ozone.
* Gimmick; to equip or embellish with unnecessary features, especially in order to increase saleability, acceptance, etc. ** Acronym; a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words, as in BS from Bull Shit.

It started as a group of pilots with an idea. Build wings that just do everything better:
handle better, turn tighter, glide faster, and are more comfortable to fly. Balance all
those together, and never compromise. The result is something most pilots can only
dream of: the most potent fun factor in paragliding.
True performance is an overall quality - a balance of ideals. A glider with the highest
glide ratio on paper is worthless in active air if it has a fragile leading edge, if it is unstable
on speed bar, or if it doesn’t turn tight when you need it to. Get a feel for the
glider’s True Performance, and don’t be fooled by advertised statistics.
You are the pilot: trust your feelings.
OZONE PARAGLIDERS

»»
Total safety and stability for student use
»Highly » Easy to launch, land, and ground-handle
» durable, exceptional price
The Element has all of the crucial ingredients for what we think is a perfect
glider to learn about the sport of paragliding. A low price, high durability, overall
ease of use and uncompromised safety have combined to make this glider
an ideal choice for schools. Created by three vastly experienced paragliding
instructors, we think this is the best school glider we have ever seen.
We have designed the Element as the easiest, safest, most simple glider
that Ozone has ever produced. Inflation and ground handling are exceedingly
simple, and will vastly accelerate the students’ ground handling and
launch learning process. The Element is very pitch stable, but at the same
time features a long brake travel and excellent behavior at slow speeds with
no deep stall tendency.
The Concept
»
Solid, Stable, Safe - The Student’s Glider
The Element is a pure school wing with the best characteristics for learning: It
is easy and forgiving, and designed and constructed with durability in mind.
New Features
»» Two more cells than the Atom2, with a constant cell distribution
»» The Element was the first glider ever certified EN A
»» Wider weight ranges make it ideal for school use
»» Evolved profile, to increase performance in pitch
»» The overall line length and arc has been modified
»» 3 riser lines instead of 4 riser lines with C and D together for easier ground handling
»» New materials – Skytext 45 Evolution top surface
»» Double layer of Dacron reinforcement at the intake ports
The Concept
»» Small, simple design for easy training
»» Ground-handling is one of the best ways to improve your flying
»» Can be used to practice ground-handling in higher winds than normal paragliders
»» Not for flight!
Is For Ground-handling
Ground-handling is one of the most important aspects of paragliding progression. With the Groundhog, pilots can progress and learn the most basic or most
advanced aspects of ground-handling in strong or light winds safely and easily.
Because the Groundhog is considerably smaller than a normal wing, it can be used for ground-handling training in higher wind, meaning that schools and students
will lose less training days because of weather. Also, the smaller size of the Groundhog makes it easier to use. Students are less likely to be dragged or
picked up, and the wing’s quick reactions to brake input and footwork help to increase the progression of the pilot.
For more specs and technical info, see page 49.
18

A Perfect Start
»» Ideal for new pilots and anyone seeking LTF 1 / EN A/B safety
»» New design for 2009, with massive performance improvements
»» Total passive safety with top level performance in the category for
XC flying
The Mojo is back, and better than ever. The Mojo 3’s central purpose is to
provide the passive safety that pilots may rely on for their first stages of cross
country flying, but the most significant improvement for this generation is in
speed and glide performance.
The Mojo 3 is balanced and safe enough for a student’s first days on the
hill, but has the agility and performance needed for 100km and longer XC
flights.
With similar flight characteristics to its predecessors, the Mojo 3 has massive
brake travel and a very comfortable feel. The wing inflates easily in no-wind
conditions and has zero tendencies to overshoot in higher winds. Though
precise, the brake travel is forgiving enough for a beginner to set up the
slightly tighter landing patterns that XC flying introduces.
Major performance gains have been made through drag reduction and a
more efficient trailing edge, due to a 10% reduction in total line length and
more advanced internal construction at the trailing edge. These improvements
have now put the Mojo 3 at the top of its category not only in terms of
safety and handling, but in glide and speed performance as well.
The overall passive safety remains uncompromised and solid enough for any
new pilot or for pilots for whom passive safety is paramount.
The new Mojo 3 is constructed from 45gm2 Porcher Sport Skytex cloth,
which has proven to be a durable and reliable material with unparalleled
longevity.
The Concept
No compromise for safety: the Mojo will always be a Mojo. However, the
Mojo3 represents the greatest leap in performance that has ever come to
the LTF 1 / EN A category.
Our mission was to achieve much higher levels of performance to create the
most appealing entry level wing available in the market.
New Features
»» The wing remains visually similar with the same amount of cells, the same
airfoil, and the same aspect ratio. We had no desire to improve the performance
by compromising the safety, accessibility and forgiveness of the
Mojo2.
»» The first improvement is a 10% reduction in total line drag, with new diagonals
to reduce line consumption. Their positioning, type, and size were carefully
calculated to minimize the changes in the sail tension.
»» The overall line length has been shortened to help inflation, ground handling,
and roll reduction.
»» The brake diagram is revised for a more progressive brake action. The handling
is even more natural, the turn more instinctive, and yet it remains very
forgiving to imprecise inputs.
»» New Planform: The lift distribution along the span has now changed to create
a more uniform feel from the canopy through the risers. The Mojo3 is
smoother, more coordinated, and better balanced.
»» Drastic drag reductions have been made to the trailing edge to increase glide
performance. New partial ribs have greatly reduced the thickness, resulting
in much higher efficiency.
For more specs and technical info, see page 49.
20

The Solid Intermediate
»» Advanced profiling for efficient glide performance in active air
»» Light and clean sail design for easy launching and in-flight agility
»» Balanced sail tension for stability in active air and moderated glider feedback
»» 6 sizes enable you to choose the section of the weight range you want
to fly in, and ensures you have a wing that is tailored to your size!
»» LTF 1-2 and EN B Certification
The Buzz Z is a solid mid-range LTF 1-2 glider with the perfect balance
between performance, fun, and safety for pilots who fly less than 50 hours
per year.
Stability and comfort in active air is what sets the Buzz Z apart from the
competition, and LTF 1-2 pilots can fly this glider with confidence in a wide
variety of conditions. The direct handling and agile turn of the Buzz Z make
it an ideal thermalling and XC glider for pilots who want to fly XC in real XC
conditions, with comfort and confidence in their wing.
The Concept: A Better Buzz...
We love the Buzz. It has been one of the more popular wings we have produced,
and after more than two years it is still a favourite in the LTF 1-2 / EN
B category. The Buzz Z fits into the same category: the exact middle of the
1-2 range, with improved performance and a few subtle differences tailored
to suit a wider range of pilots.t
New Features
»» 6 sizes!
»» The cell openings have been reduced, and their positioning optimised.
»» New profile.
»» More cells. With 3 more across the span, the top sail is cleaner and the cell
arrangement is more balanced, improving airflow at the wingtip.
»» New diagonals. The Buzz Z features partial diagonals, which improve many
aspects of the wing without increasing weight
»» New line arrangement, and internal structure. 47m line reduction is a ‘free’
performance increase, with no sacrifice in safety or comfort.
»» Smoother Arc.
»» Materials. The new Porcher Skytex 45 Evolution has reduced the canopy
weight, leading to countless advantages over the heavier Gelvenor cloth.
For more specs and technical info, see page 49.
Cross Country Adventure
»» Highest Performance in the LTF 1-2 class
»» For pilots who need maximum XC Performance, with LTF 1-2 safety
»» Dynamic, agile handling
The performance of the Rush 2 is close to the Addict 2 in terms of trim
speed, sink rate and glide ratio. It is an XC machine for the adventurous and
progressive pilot.
The Rush 2 is Cross Country Performance with safety and stability. It is a
top-end LTF 1-2 with all of the ingredients for long flights; all it needs is a
pilot to lead the way.
Designed for long XC flights, the Rush 2 features the same ultra-smooth and
easy speed system from the Mantra M3 and Addict 2. It delivers easy and
light bar pressure allowing you to use it with confidence all day, without tiring
or wasting unnecessary energy. The high stability in accelerated flight means
that its broad speed range can be used with confidence, for long periods of
your flight, in order to maximize distance and efficiency.
The wing likes to bite into thermals and the handling is direct and well coordinated,
which makes coring even the tightest or most disorganized lift a
pleasure. Feedback is transmitted to the pilot in comfortable amounts, and
it is feedback that the pilot can understand and use, not just turbulence or
noise.
Advancements in profiling and sail tension have increased both the glide
performance and the in-flight comfort of the Rush 2 over the original Rush.
Rush pilots will notice a higher trim speed, better glide in accelerated flight,
and a mellower feel in active air.
The Concept
High performance intermediate, for pilots seeking XC performance with uncompromised
handling and a LTF 1-2 level of safety.
The Rush2 has been designed to replace its predecessor and take the concept
to a higher level of performance, while improving the general comfort
and keeping the safety at the same level.
The majority of my flying is done while guiding
pilots on XC courses and flying in remote places
around the world, so I must select a glider that
has good performance and solid safety but most
of all one that suits my style of flying. I flew the Rush
for 3 years, and now the Rush 2 is again ideal for me as it
has a great speed range and agile handling that is responsive
when I need it yet with enough brake travel to allow
me to relax while flying in thermals. The Rush 2 has the
perfect balance between high performance and safety, and
the extra confidence I have when flying it enables me to
focus on finding lift for students and myself, and above
all allows me to have fun. It is better to fly a good 1-2
glider at 100% than a competition wing at 60%!
Have fun!
It’s Not Just A Geo 2
»» Totally new profile, planform, and performance
»» High performance intermediate lightweight wing (LTF 1-2)
»» Compact size when folded: ideal for travel and hiking
»» Exceptionally easy launch, super fun handling
»» Maximum glide performance: ideal for vol-bivouac adventure
»» Built with Porcher 9017 E68A: the gold standard for durable lightweight material
The Geo II is a totally new glider at the top of the 1-2 class in terms of performance
and handling.
The Concept: A Better Geo...
The Geo was more popular than we imagined it would be. An increasing
awareness of the pleasure and sensibility of light equipment coupled with
the enjoyable handling and acceptable performance of the Geo made it an
instant success.
Even though the Geo is still widely considered a great wing, we wanted to start
from a completely new foundation and build a wing with better performance.
What started as a new concept in 2005 with the original Geo, has become
a revolution in the sport with an entire class of wings devoted to pilots who
want a lightweight glider with no sacrifice in performance, handling, or fun.
We feel very strongly that the Geo II will conquer the 1-2 class of lightweight
wings, and is the best lightweight wing that we have ever flown.
Designed with True Performance as its mission statement, the Geo II incorporates
the results of real adventure research and the significant profile, planform,
and construction developments in our LTF 1-2 program made since the
release of the original Geo. With a new advanced profile that is featured in all
of the next generation of Ozone wings, the Geo II has the glide performance
necessary for serious vol-bivouac flights in mountain terrain or efficient glides
in weak flatland conditions. Segmented diagonals are used throughout;
these are lighter than standard full diagonals and have allowed for a massive
110m reduction of total line length, which has in turn resulted in less drag and
higher performance at no cost of safety.
Porcher Skytex 36g/m2 has a well proven record of durability, and is the same
cloth used on the original Geo. Lines are a combination of sheathed Aramid
(lowers), UV treated unsheathed Aramid (mids) and unsheathed Dyneema
(uppers). The Geo II is available in two riser options: standard risers, and light
weight Dyneema for pilots who are most concerned with weight.
Ozone wings are adventure-proven more than any other, and the Geo II is
our ultimate adventure wing for intermediate pilots. This is your tool to make
it real… Designed for adventure, tested for performance in extreme environments
and trimmed for safety, the Geo II has been a pleasure for us to develop.
But this wing’s journey is by no means finished; in fact for you it has just
begun. Enjoy your Adventure.
New Features
»» 5 sizes!
»» New profile
»» The cell openings have been reduced, and their positioning optimized
»» More cells. With 3 more across the span, the top sail is cleaner and the cell
Highly Useable Speed System, with Stability in Accelerated flight
»Fly » Comfort in the climb and in turbulent air
»Ultra-smooth » fast, confidently
»New »
accelerator system
» profile: maximum glide and pitch stability with LTF 2 safety
The Addict 2 is the most cutting edge XC / Sport wing we have designed. This
latest creation from David Dagault is a result of more than a year of development
and testing, and is designed for the experienced, discerning XC pilot. Research
and technology from our competition wings has combined True High Performance
with the famous agility and LTF 2 safety of the original Addict.
The original Addict was proven to be a leader in the LTF 2 category in terms of
performance, with independent reviews measuring its glide and speed at the
very top of the LTF 2 class. The Addict 2 was designed for exactly the same
results, with higher performance gained from 2 more years of R&D.
Profile research from the Mantra Series has been incorporated in the Addict 2 to
improve LD figures and pitch stability. The result of this is a sensation of constant
penetration, with the wing leading ahead in turbulent conditions and performing
extraordinarily well in upwind glides.
A new line layout has reduced the total line length by 30m with the removal of the
main D lines. The Addict 2 line set is made from highly durable sheathed Aramid
lowers and UV treated unsheathed mids and uppers.
True performance is not just about figures. Comfort and usability are just as, if
not more, important. We have not pushed the AR too high for this type of wing
because our philosophy was to create a useable XC machine that can be flown
at 100% in all conditions throughout the speed range. The sail tension is based
on the development of the Mantra Series, and is a very important characteristic
of the design as it directly affects the performance of the wing and the way
information is transmitted to the pilot. The Addict 2 is a comfortable platform to
explore remote XC terrain with, giving very smooth and understandable feedback
through the brakes and risers.
The handling has been further refined by reducing the amount of roll in straight
line flight and in the turn. This makes for a more efficient glide with fewer parasitic
movements and a flatter turn which improves thermalling performance without
compromising handling. Coupled with a direct, intuitive feel through the brakes
the Addict 2 offers you the ability to core like never before.
The speed system is simple and easy to use. Ball bearing Ronstan pulleys deliver
smooth and light bar pressure allowing you to use it with confidence all day.
»
Precision
Performance
Comfort and Speed
The Concept
More comfort, more performance, more efficiency than the original Addict.
Less movement during the climb and in turbulence, with gentler feedback
than the original Addict. Same agility and fun factor as the original Addict.
A debate over whether to use a 3 or 4 line arrangement was at the forefront
of the early development process. After months of work and comparisons
we have reached our goal, which is a well balanced compromise between
the two initial choices.
New Features
»» A Pyramidal junction of the C and D lines resulted in a 30m line reduction, for a
significant improvement in glide performance with no loss of safety or handling.
»» Unsheathed uppers and mids treated with a UV coating save drag, while
sheathed riser lines make the lineset more durable and the wing easy to launch
and ground-handle in any terrain at any site.
»» Same profile as the M2, with a similar thickness.
»» One less centre cell to improve the in-flight comfort of the wing.
»» New sail tension to reduce the intensity and sharpness of the feedback through
the risers.
»» New arc for less roll and higher glide performance.
»» The risers have the same high quality pulleys with smooth ball-bearings as the
M3. We can virtually guarantee that the Addict 2 has the smoothest speed
system that you have ever used.
FREESTYLE
In the tradition of the original Octane, which redefined handling in the paragliding
world, The Octane FLX is dedicated to freestyle play and acro flying.
This is our answer to pilots who have been asking for a wing that does all of
the hottest acro manoeuvres, but with a good enough sink rate to thermal
and fly comfortably… and of course with LTF 2 certification.
The Octane FLX is a compact and easy to use acro wing, with energy
enough for big tumbles and lofty wingovers, and the pitch stability needed
for gentle recoveries and the smoothest, easiest helicopters imaginable.
If you are an aspiring acro pilot, or if handling and fun are an absolute priority
for you, then the Octane FLX is your wing of choice.
The Concept
The perfect freestyle wing that is capable of all the tricks but certified to a
high level of safety, and comfortable to fly: the climb and glide of the Octane
FLX are excellent for a Freestyle wing.
New Features
»» 44 cells, with full diagonals, 4 riser lines and 4 lines per side and no middle
gallery lines: all for ultra high durability. More lines and more attachment points
are necessary for heavy use and frequent high G loadings. This also results
also in very small angles in the line cascades, reducing the deformations in
the sail and making the wing tighter and more efficient in manoeuvres.
»» The Aspect Ratio is a balance: high enough for performance and energy in
tumbles but low enough to be compact, forgiving, and to have a low chance
of cravats.
»» The planform has also been designed to reduce the risk of cravats while
doing spin tricks such as Mc twists, Misty flips, Helis, etc.
»» The overall line length (distance from pilot to wing) is somewhat high for
stability in the helicopter and energy for tumbles.
»» With Leaky Butthole technology for dune soaring and wagas!
Unbeatable Confidence and Maximum
Performance in the Serial Class
»» Significant speed and glide improvement over the M2 across the
speed range
»» HPP Research Elements: new profile, trailing edge, and line diagram.
»» Trademark Ozone handling: Still the tightest and most stable turn in
the LTF 2-3 class.
»» Total comfort in flight: Like its predecessors, the M3 is pure pleasure in
all conditions, no stress!
»» Stability at Speed: The M3’s speed system is made to be used, and
with confidence.
»» Confidence: Stability at speed and total comfort in active air – push
your speed bar to your goal, without stressing about your wing.
»» Designed for true LTF 2-3 safety: This is not a ‘de-tuned’ comp wing
Total comfort and stability combined with performance is now the legacy of
the Mantra Series. The Mantra M3 has continued this tradition, with massive
improvements in speed and glide performance.
The constant research in the Mantra R Open Class Series and the HPP
Project have yielded exciting new design elements which have been incorporated
into the M3 by the Ozone Test and Design Team. Foremost among
these improvements are the new profile, line diagram, and trailing edge design,
all of which have significantly improved the efficiency of the wing.
In the Mantra Series, efficiency is the obsession of the test team. Overall efficiency
opens the windows of speed and glide, without sacrificing safety and
comfort. Instead of focusing on top speed when laying out the design elements,
through maximizing efficiency the design team allowed speed and
glide to increase as natural side effects of the improved design elements.
Glide and speed test comparisons have shown the Mantra M3 to be at the
top of the class in terms of performance. As for handling and comfort, these
are the trademarks of all Ozone wings and are crucial elements of the Mantra
Series as well – Confidence comes only with comfort, and confidence is
the first ingredient in your performance. The comfort and ease of the Mantra
M3 will allow you to maximize its potential and yours, in any competition or
XC environment.
The Concept
A logical evolution: Improve the performance in all respects, while retaining
the Mantra Series trademarks – True Overall Performance: agile handling
and ease of use.
New Features
»» Although the M3 is purely an evolution of the M2, a total optimisation
of the core factors has created a very significant step forward in performance
»» Aspect Ratio Increased: With the advent of improved airfoil technology,
we were able to increase the AR without compromising overall true performance.
At this time, we do not think it is possible to increase the AR further
without sacrificing sail homogeneity, a compact feel, and great handling.
The increased AR means greater performance in sink rate and climb
»» More cells: A result of the increased AR, necessary to maintain cell proportion
for a clean sail and a cohesive feel in the wing
»» A special diagonal rib arrangement from the Mantra R research series
has allowed the addition of these 4 cells without the addition of lines
»» HPP Research: Has lead to the discovery of a new profile, now on the
M3. This profile has yielded extraordinary glide performance for the
class, increased pitch stability, lighter brake pressure, and forgiving at
higher angles of attack
»» Tab Positioning: To match the new airfoil and also to prevent chordwise
deformation, for a smoother feel in turbulence
»» Trailing Edge: Partial ribs have been added to reduce drag by improving
airflow across the TE. A new brake attachment has increased the efficiency
of the flap while brakes are applied
»» Line Diagram: Now optimized for a 11% line drag reduction
»» Overall Efficiency: Has allowed us to reduce the size by 0.5m2, for better
handling, and higher speeds throughout the range
»» New Risers: Narrower webbing material and the super smooth Ronstan
Pulleys
What is your In-Flight Weight?
With the Ultralite, your In-Flight
weight is your body weight plus
only about 4.5kg. For instance, if
your body weight (with clothing,
etc.) is 75kg, your In-Flight
weight with all equipment could
be as low as just 80kg. Remember
this when choosing your Ultralite.
Looking for a safe, small wing?
The Ultralite 19 is the ONLY 17m
(projected) wing available that is
certified LTF 1-2! Compare to
other 17m wings that are certified
LTF 2-3.
Which size?
You will notice that the Ultralite
weight ranges and certification are
the same for the 19m and 23m sizes
– it’s up to you to decide what
you want out of your Ultralite:
the smallest packing, lightest size
possible, or a bit more surface
area for thermalling and XC flying.
It’s up to you.

The World’s Lightest Paragliders*...
Are now even lighter!
»» New lighter rib material, for lighter overall weight on every model
»» Highest Portability
»» Lowest weight
»» Exceptional Price
»» The ideal second wing for Alpine Mountaineers, Travelers, and Hikers
First of all, the Ultralite is a real paraglider. At 19m 2 , 23m 2 and 25m 2 , the Ultralite
series gives you a full sized wing, not a micro-sized imitation of a paraglider. Because
the Ultralite is actually a full sized wing, launching and landing it is as safe
and easy as in a normal paraglider, allowing you to use it with confidence in the
most extreme conditions: at high altitude, in deep snow, or on the most difficult
launches. The new UL16 † is also very manageable for experienced pilots, even
in extreme conditions.
Testing has shown that the Ultralite’s speed and glide is quite acceptable for the
LTF 1-2 class, which means that many pilots will enjoy flying XC with this wing
as well. Although it is a full sized wing in the air, the Ultralite’s extreme light weight
and compact design folds into an almost pocket size, meaning that you can
take it with you anywhere, anytime.
New for 2009: The Ultralite has been updated with several weight saving design
features including new rib construction and material, for a 200gm weight
reduction**. The 23m 2 weighs 2.66kg, and the 19m 2 weighs in at just 2.38kg!
Traveling pilots, hike and fly pilots, or pilots seeking the lightest possible glider
for the most extreme and technically demanding alpine ascents will all love flying
and carrying the Ultralite.
Imagine fitting your glider, harness, reserve parachute and helmet all under the
seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment on your next vacation!
The material is just as strong, but being a true light-weight cloth it is not designed
to be heavily abused. Although this technically advanced cloth is much
more expensive, we have kept the retail price very low in order to make it available
for pilots as a second wing for travel and adventure.
The 19m 2 , 23m 2 and 25m 2 sizes are all certified LTF 1-2!
The Concept: The World’s Lightest Certifiable Paraglider
The lightest materials and manufacturing techniques, a slightly reduced surface
area, and simplifying the wing structure has led to the Ultralite’s exceptionally
low weight.
The Ultralite’s high passive safety, ease of use, and excellent launch characteristics
were the result of many prototypes and fine tuning by the Ozone test
team and these qualities are what makes the wing so exceptional.
New Features
»»
Main Top Surface: Porcher Skytex 27g, the highest quality extreme-light cloth
available
»»
Leading Edge: Porcher Skytex 32g. This slightly more durable cloth on the
leading edge of the Ultralite extends its longevity and flight characteristics by
maintaing the shape and porosity of the leading edge
»»
Unsheathed lines: Dyneema uppers and UV-Treated Aramid lowers provide
excellent performance and longevity
»»
Manufacturing: Each part of the wing has been optimised without sacrificing
too much strength, and the Ultralite has been certified by the LTF load test,
at 8G minimum strength!
»»
Risers: Dyneema cord looped directly to the main lines with no maillons
results in only 160gm total weight for the pair including brake handles! In
contrast, a normal set of risers weighs 500gms
»» 200 grams lighter!**
†
UL16
The Ultralite 16 is the ultimate lightweight wing for alpinists and climbers.
Although still large enough for experienced pilots to launch and land comfortably,
the UL16 is just about as small as a real paraglider can be, and still
retain the characteristics necessary for difficult alpine launches, and the glide
and sink rate necessary for extended flights. The UL16 is Load Test only.
The Oxygen1 Harness is available as an option with
the Ultralite. It is a lightweight harness and bag combination
weighing just 1.3kg.
See page 47 for more details.
The Professional’s Choice
»» Used by professional tandem pilots all over the world
»» New 38m size available
»» Easiest launches and landings
»» Agile, ‘solo glider’ handling
»» Most durable design and materials
The Magnum 2009 is a tandem wing designed for professional tandem
pilots. It is strong and versatile enough for any professional tandem
pilot, and excels in all conditions.
We tested the Magnum in a wide variety of sites to be sure that it can
handle every type of flying. It launches easily in no wind, and comes up
smoothly in high wind. In flight, it is pitch and roll stable for a smooth ride,
and features trademark Ozone handling for precise and dynamic piloting.
New for 2009:
The new 38m size is our answer to many lighter professional pilots who
want better speed and comfort from their wing, and all pilots who want a
smaller and therefore easier to pack and carry tandem glider.
Fewer diagonals and more attachment points distribute the load across
the canopy more smoothly. An aspect ratio of 5.11 and 46 cells were chosen
for a clean sail design and efficient performance, while still retaining
benign launch characteristics and a lightweight sail design. The Magnum’s
profile is a new design that was created specifically for the needs of a tandem
glider. Its planform and sail tension have also been created specially
for comfortable brake pressure, easy launches, and performance.
The Magnum is constructed from Porcher Skytex 45 Evolution on the top
surface. This cloth has proven to be durable and stretch resistant, which
creates a more precise feeling in flight and ensures that the glider will last
for hundreds of hours.
The Concept
The Magnum is a completely new concept in design, and shares very
little in common with our previous tandem wings. The Magnum’s mission
is to deliver total ease of use, solid performance, high durability, and
the excellent handling that professional tandem pilots want and need.
Progressive and light inflation with very smooth pitch, and the best flare
possible for easy landings in even the worst conditions: Those features
are the crucial basics, but we wanted to take it a few steps further, and
add the performance and handling that would convince the professionals
that the Magnum is the only tandem wing to fly. The feedback is that
the Magnum is the easiest tandem available, and has the best handling
possible, and high numbers of Magnums in the air at every professional
tandem site say it all!
The final factor is durability to ensure a long working life. The line plan
of the glider and the materials that we have used guarantee that the
Magnum will deliver its performance for many seasons of full time professional
work.
New Features
»» Now available in 38m size: Scaled perfectly from the 41m design.
»» New spreader bars: Same size and geometry as the original Magnum
spreaders, with new materials and clip in points for better ease of use.
»» Airfoil: The profile was developed specifically for the Magnum.
»» New internal structure to prevent deformation in the sail and in the lines,
for long term performance and durability.
»» All unsupported sections of the glider are reinforced with diagonals for
maximum durability and lifespan
R is for Research
»» New Higher Top Speed
»» Performance Research for Ozone’s International Competition Team
»» Proven World Cup Performance
»» Constantly evolving design to achieve the most current performance
possible
R is for Research. The Mantra R09 is a constantly evolving Open Class
Competition wing. Research for the Mantra R Project has led to performance
breakthroughs on our serial wings with the discovery of more efficient
profiles, line-plans, and internal construction.
The mission is maximum performance, without sacrificing a solid level of
stability and comfort. The R09’s profile is extremely stable when accelerated,
and the technology behind this design has been used in the Mantra
and Addict serial class gliders. Other technology that is currently being
tested in the R09 may be used in our serial class gliders in the future, such
as super low drag line plans and more advanced profiles.
The Concept: Research
Maximum Performance in the Open Class Competition Wing Category, in
order to support our international XC / Competition team.
The R07 was a well received comp wing with high performance and perhaps
the best climb on the PWC and also highly comfortable – but we needed to
improve on the top speed in order to have it all.
The Result
The R09 is the highest performing wing that Ozone has ever produced. After
having used it in the top level of competition, we are confident that the performance
is at the highest level of the sport and that the R09 has everything
necessary to be flown to the most prestigious rankings in the world.
New Features
»» The airfoil is a completely new type. The thickness, camber, and the general
shape have all been improved, with the aim to retain the positive features of
the R07 while yielding higher top speed
»» Speed is a factor of wing loading: we have reduced the size to achieve a
good compromise between climb rate and speed
»» The arc has been revised in order to achieve the highest performance possible
for this geometry. The planform remains the same except from the tip
which has been redesigned to work with the new arc
»» We’ve also managed to make a 15% reduction in total line drag, which
translates into a straight benefit in performance!
»» The tension straps running across the span are now made with Mylar: This
gives more cohesion to the wing, and guaranties longevity of performance.
»» New “shrink tabs” for the brake attachment makes the trailing edge even
cleaner, and also creates more tension in the trailing edge during the turn
»» Profile-enhancing rigid construction on the leading edge has also helped to
give the R09 a 10kmh top speed increase! In order to maintain the shape of
the nose, two types of reinforcements have been added inside and outside,
at the front of the airfoil: the result is a cleaner airfoil shape, and the stability
of the openings allows a higher top speed with less sail deformation – this
helps prevent collapses and inefficient excessive sail movement
»» The R09 is also the first model to have a new generation of trimmers. Pilots
may choose either performance or stability while previously; the choice was
to either set your accelerator system to one feature or the other.
»» Double Trim System: The lower trim tab is for standard accel / decel. The
upper trim tab allows the pilot to choose between two flight modes: For
top performance in calm air, close this trim tab for a pure AoA modification
without profile deformation. For increased speed plus stability in active air (for
instance final glide to goal), release this trim tab to allow profile deformation.
Felix Rodriguez Pro Model
Designed by Dav Dagault with Felix Rodriguez and the Ozone Test Team,
the FLX.2 is the second generation of our ultimate competition acro wing.
There was only one mission statement for this glider: ‘Make Felix Happy’.
The FLX.2 is the result of a seemingly never-ending series of prototypes that
have been tested over a period of more than two years. Felix has spent literally
thousands of hours hammering this wing in every manoeuvre possible,
from the skies over Organya Spain to the Chamonix Valley and at every stop
of the Acro World Cup; and finally, the FLX.2 is ready.
Infinite Tumbles? Get yourself over the middle, and as Felix says, you won’t
have to touch it – the wing just goes. Helicopters? Fast and stable, the FLX.2
is as smooth as can be.
Each element of the design is to fulfil the requirements for an acro manoeuvre.
Perfect helicopters, rhythmic SAT to Infinite Tumble, and effortless spintricks
are all possible with the FLX.2.
This wing is designed for experienced and competition acro pilots who know
what they need, and want to fly like Felix Rodriguez.
The Concept
Felix Rodriguez’s Pro Model. Designed by Dav Dagault with constant feedback
from Felix, the goal of the FLX.2 is simple – maximum acro with maximum
ease, comfort, and precision.
New Features
»» The FLX.2 is an evolution of the FLX
»» A reworked profile has created what we believe is the perfect compromise
between dynamic pitch (for fast, safe tumbles), and predictable and comfortable
behaviour in other maneuvers
»» A partially closed Leading Edge contributes to greater stability while in helicopter
and in the tip during all manoeuvres
»» A new brake diagram has perfected the trailing edge control
»» Tension straps have been adjusted to spread the load differently inside
the wing
»» Overall, the FLX.2 is easier in every manoeuvre, with less effort necessary
to achieve the manoeuvres in the cleanest manner. And the FLX.2 is one
of the most durable wings ever produced, with an extremely high strength
internal construction and the best materials available
SPEED FLYING
…is the newest branch of the sport of paragliding.
Foot Launched Speed Flying...
in which pilots use their feet to run and launch from steep mountain
terrain, or at windy ‘ridge soaring’ sites. Launching and landing
the smallest sizes of speed flying wings by foot can be tricky,
but the larger sizes are simple and easy to launch and land in
the right conditions. Most pilots will use the XT 16 and the larger
sizes of Bullet 09 (12m and 14m sizes) for foot launched flight.

Ski Launched Speed Riding...
in which pilots use skis to access launches in mountain terrain,
and then fly / ski through that terrain at high speeds. Skis make
launching and landing these fast wings simple and easy for any
pilot with a moderate skill level in the sports of paragliding and
skiing. Most pilots will choose the smaller sizes of Bullet 09 and
Bullet GT (8m to 12m) for ski launch Speed Riding.

Cross Terrain Speed Flying
The Concept
The Ultimate Cross Terrain Speed Flying wing. The XT 16 is for pilots who
want something a little smaller and a little faster than their paraglider. Soarable
when normal paragliders can’t even be brought out of the bag and easy to
launch and land in high wind or no wind, the XT is a highly stable and easy
to use wing for pilots of all abilities.
Features
»» High stability for a wider range of conditions
»» Ultra-long brake range
»» Highly stall resistant
»» Easy launch, and low speed landings
»» Gentle, coordinated handling
The XT is the answer…
Across a wide variety of sites and conditions, the XT excels. Based on over a
decade of paraglider research and the recent developments in Speed Flying
Wing Profiles, the XT is designed with a hybrid flat bottom profile for stability
in active air, and full diagonals for a smooth and precise feel.
In addition to the airfoil shape, the low aspect ratio and thicker profile of the
XT sets it apart from normal paragliders. These design attributes create a
blend of higher stability and lower performance than a standard paraglider,
which in turn makes the XT ideal for high wind soaring and for carving and
swooping terrain on the way down the mountain.
The XT is the perfect opportunity for pilots to enter the sport of foot launched
speed flying easily.
Pilots who want to experience the option of flying in higher wind, or the feeling
of a bit more airspeed on any flight, will love the XT.
Pilots who live in places that frequently experience higher winds will miss far
fewer weekends of flying if they own an XT.
Light and compact, the XT fits into a small backpack making it easy to hike
or travel with and an ideal solution for alpine mountaineers and hikers who
may plan to launch in higher wind than is possible in a larger paraglider.
For more specs and technical info, see page 49.
Speed Riding / Speed Flying
»» Easiest launch and landing
»» Water tolerant lines and highly packable material
»» Improved ‘carving turn’ and roll coordination
»» More progressive handling
Each size of the Bullet 09 is a perfect scale in size and behavior. Simply
choose your size according to the wing loading you want - high wing loading
for experts, lower wing loading for beginners.
The Package
Included with every Bullet 09 is a stuff sack with compression straps, mountain
backpack with ski-carry system, snow-stakes, and more. And thanks to
Ozone’s fair pricing policy, after getting your Bullet 09 package you’ll still have
plenty of cash left for ski-lift tickets!
The ATAK Harness was designed specifically for speed flying
and comes as an option with the Bullet line of speed wings.
See page 47 for details.
New Features
»» Easy launch. This is imperative for new speed-flyers, and the sometimes
difficult launching conditions that can be experienced in the mountains
(tailwind, crosswind, etc)
»» Relatively slow speed take-off. the profile is high lift, allowing early takeoff
and excellent slower speed performance
»» In flight stability. The line configuration and sail tension of the Bullet 09
help reduce in-flight glider movement to a minimum
»» Handling. Speed-flying wings have very high wing-loading and therefore
the handling must be smooth and progressive, with a long brake range
to help prevent pilots from over-controlling the wing
»» Landing. The high lift profile and moderate sail tension allow the wing to
be slowed down easily for soft, slow speed landings
»» Durability. OzTech 30gm2:This cloth has been tested from the Polar icecaps
to the Sahara desert and we are very confident that it is the best
material possible for Speed-Flying
»» Cousin Dyneema lines: these water tolerant braided lines are highly
resistant to cutting by ski edges and can withstand heavy use in wet
environments
Speed Riding
More Speed, Less Glide...
A totally new design for 2009, the Bullet GT Series is for pilots who want
a wing with a steeper glide angle and a higher sink rate. The following
design features set the Bullet GT apart from the Bullet 09:
»» Lower aspect ratio: More stability, less performance.
»» Full diagonals: Less sail movement in flight.
»» Flatter arc: Higher stability and reduced roll movement.
»» No Leading Edge Mylar: reduces efficiency in the turn, resulting in a
higher sink rate and a closer carve on the mountain.
Available only in 7.7 and 9.8m sizes, the Bullet GT is for ski launched
speed riding and experienced pilots. Anyone who has one or more season’s
experience speed riding will appreciate the performance aspects
of the Bullet GT.
46

OZONE HARNESSES
The Oxygen2 (O2) Harness
The O2 is designed for a wide
range of flying conditions, from
surfing the local ridge to long
XC flights, and even some freestyle
flying. Three long years in
the making, the O2 wasn’t declared
finished until it had the perfect
balance between comfort and agility.
The Oxygen1 Harness was designed with comfort in mind.
Comfort while flying, and also while hiking. At just 1.3kg, it is
light for a harness and bag combination, but features
leg and chest buckles (instead of the step-through
system), generously padded leg and back support,
and a comfortably sized storage compartment.
Instead of having all of the leg straps permanently
sewn to save a few grams, which can
result in a nightmare on launch if you are trying
to get into it with crampons or boots on, we have
chosen light weight buckles with colour coordinated leg
straps for easy and safe identification. The padding on the
back and inside the legs makes the Oxygen1 the lightweight harness
that you can fly comfortably for hours. If your wing is soarable,
then your harness should be as well!
»» 17cms of back protection provides a solid level for pilots of all abilities,
without excess bulk or weight
»» Trim and smooth design is adjustable for upright or reclined flight
»» Exterior constructed from highly durable and strong Kordra material
»» Safety ‘T’ buckle system
»» Lightweight aluminum leg buckles (non-load bearing)
»» Easy transition from standing to seated flight (no more struggle after launch!)
»» Ambidextrous reserve handle placement (choose left or right side, easily)
»» Rear mounted reserve for easy and safe deployments from all flying configurations
»» Large storage area
The Bullet 09, Bullet GT, and XT16 come with the Atak
Harness as an option. This harness is designed by pro skiers
and pro pilots specifically for the new sport of Speed
Flying, with a special focus on the best configuration
for transitioning from skiing to flying positions.
Other speed flying harnesses boast gimmicks
and cute features, but neglect the most
essential points: the body and leg position needed
to effectively move from the ideal ski position
to a comfortable seated flying position.
