1 GENERAL
1.1 Scope
The tape sling (express sling) serves the safety of the mountain infantry soldier
during climbing and rappeling. It is part of the mountain guide climbing
equipment.
1.2 General technical-organisational requirements
In accordance with TL 8305-0011.
Special attention should be paid to the requirements with respect to health,
occupational safety and environmental protection.
1.2.1 This TL includes safety requirements for technical work equipment. The provisions
of the German Equipment and Product Safety Act (Geräte- und
Produktsicherheitsgesetz - GPSG), including its regulations and rules for
implementation must be observed, even though technical work equipment intended
exclusively for military purposes is excluded within the scope and application of
this act and its regulations.

DIN EN 566 supports basic requirements specified in EU directive 89/686/EEC on
personal protective equipment (PPE). The tape slings shall meet category III
quality requirements. If more stringent safety requirements are defined in laws,
standards or other regulations after the entry into force of this issue, they
will automatically become part of this TL.
1.2.2 For the manufacturing of tape slings compliance with the safety requirements set
out in this TL shall be demonstrated by means of testing in accordance with
DIN EN 566 at a testing activity approved by the Federal Ministry of Labour and
Social Affairs.
As a prerequisite for delivery to the Bundeswehr, the certificates of compliance
with PPE directive, Articles 11A or 11B, shall be presented completely upon
submission of the bid.
1.3 Environmental compatibility
In accordance with TL 8305-0011.
2 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Type
Tape sling with attached rubber cap (string) on one side for securing a karabiner
(see Figure 1).

Sling:
The tape sections shall be hot cut. The ends of the sections shall be folded over
each other. The folded sections and the opposite tape shall be sewn together with
6 transverse zigzag bar tacks in such a way that two differently sized loops
(sling openings) are formed. The seams shall be designed in different colours in
accordance with Table (2.2.2).

2.2 Marking
Type:
The rubber cap (string) shall be manufactured in such a way that a karabiner is
secured in the short loop against slipping.
2.2.1 In accordance with DIN EN 566, every supply item shall be provided with a durable

- additional property mark “BUND”
at an appropriate place.

3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
3.1 Quality inspection
In accordance with TL 8305-0011.
3.2 Contractor quality control
Based on the quality assurance requirements as laid down in the technical
documentation, the contractor shall take appropriate measures in accordance with
the provisions of AQAP-2131 “NATO quality assurance requirements for final
inspection” in order to ensure contractual compliance of the deliverables.
These quality control measures shall be evidenced for each product. The extent of
such measures shall be commensurate with the risks involved in manufacture.
Certification of test results
The contractor shall confirm the fulfilment of the technical requirements
specified in this TL by means of a quality inspection certificate in accordance
with DIN 55350-18-4.2.2 which shall be presented to the Government Quality
Assurance Representative (GQAR). Upon request, one copy of this certificate shall
be handed over to him.
3.3 Government quality assurance
In accordance with TL 8305-0011.
4 PACKAGING
These requirements o n l y apply to contracts directly awarded by BWB o r to
deliveries to Bundeswehr agencies.
