1 GENERAL<br />

1.1 Scope<br />

The tape <strong>sling</strong> (express <strong>sling</strong>) serves the safety of the mountain infantry soldier<br />

during climbing and rappeling. It is part of the mountain guide climbing<br />

equipment.<br />

1.2 General technical-organisational requirements<br />

In accordance with TL 8305-0011.<br />

Special attention should be paid to the requirements with respect to health,<br />

occupational safety and environmental protection.<br />

1.2.1 This TL includes safety requirements for technical work equipment. The provisions<br />

of the German Equipment and Product Safety Act (Geräte- <strong>und</strong><br />

Produktsicherheitsgesetz - GPSG), including its regulations and rules for<br />

implementation must be observed, even though technical work equipment intended<br />

exclusively for military purposes is excluded within the scope and application of<br />

this act and its regulations.

DIN EN 566 supports basic requirements specified in EU directive 89/686/EEC on<br />

personal protective equipment (PPE). The tape <strong>sling</strong>s shall meet category III<br />

quality requirements. If more stringent safety requirements are defined in laws,<br />

standards or other regulations after the entry into force of this issue, they<br />

will automatically become part of this TL.<br />

1.2.2 For the manufacturing of tape <strong>sling</strong>s compliance with the safety requirements set<br />

out in this TL shall be demonstrated by means of testing in accordance with<br />

DIN EN 566 at a testing activity approved by the Federal Ministry of Labour and<br />

Social Affairs.<br />

As a prerequisite for delivery to the B<strong>und</strong>eswehr, the certificates of compliance<br />

with PPE directive, Articles 11A or 11B, shall be presented completely upon<br />

submission of the bid.<br />

1.3 Environmental compatibility<br />

In accordance with TL 8305-0011.<br />

2 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS<br />

2.1 Type<br />

<strong>Tape</strong> <strong>sling</strong> with attached rubber cap (string) on one side for securing a karabiner<br />

(see Figure 1).<br />

Sling:<br />

The tape sections shall be hot cut. The ends of the sections shall be folded over<br />

each other. The folded sections and the opposite tape shall be sewn together with<br />

6 transverse zigzag bar tacks in such a way that two differently sized loops<br />

(<strong>sling</strong> openings) are formed. The seams shall be designed in different colours in<br />

accordance with Table (2.2.2).<br />

2.2 Marking<br />

The rubber cap (string) shall be manufactured in such a way that a karabiner is<br />

secured in the short loop against slipping.<br />

2.2.1 In accordance with DIN EN 566, every supply item shall be provided with a durable<br />

3 QUALITY ASSURANCE<br />

3.1 Quality inspection<br />

In accordance with TL 8305-0011.<br />

3.2 Contractor quality control<br />

Based on the quality assurance requirements as laid down in the technical<br />

documentation, the contractor shall take appropriate measures in accordance with<br />

the provisions of AQAP-2131 “NATO quality assurance requirements for final<br />

inspection” in order to ensure contractual compliance of the deliverables.<br />

These quality control measures shall be evidenced for each product. The extent of<br />

such measures shall be commensurate with the risks involved in manufacture.<br />

Certification of test results<br />

The contractor shall confirm the fulfilment of the technical requirements<br />

specified in this TL by means of a quality inspection certificate in accordance<br />

with DIN 55350-18-4.2.2 which shall be presented to the Government Quality<br />

Assurance Representative (GQAR). Upon request, one copy of this certificate shall<br />

be handed over to him.<br />

3.3 Government quality assurance<br />

In accordance with TL 8305-0011.<br />

4 PACKAGING<br />

These requirements o n l y apply to contracts directly awarded by BWB o r to<br />

deliveries to B<strong>und</strong>eswehr agencies.<br />
