2-9. CHECKING THE FIT OF YOUR FACEPIECE. NOTE Although a qualified person has supervised the initial fitting of your mask, it is your responsibility to be sure you have the right size mask and that your mask fits properly Check the following items to ensure a proper fit: a. Top and side edges of facepiece (1 ) should come well up on your forehead and within 1 inch (2.5 cm) of your ear. b. The pupils of your eyes should be about 1 inch (2.5 cm) from top of lens (2). c. Head harness cheek and temple straps (3) should not cut into ears. d. The bottom of facepiece (4) should not cut into your throat. 2-70
