c. Removing Your Facepiece, With Hood, in Cold Weather.<br />

<strong>TM</strong> 3-<strong>4240</strong>-<strong>280</strong>-<strong>10</strong><br />

WARNING<br />

If you become overheated in very cold weather, do not remove your facepiece<br />

until your head cools and any sweat has dried. Frostbite may result if the facepiece<br />

is removed while your face is still wet. These precautions are not required if<br />

you are in warm shelter.<br />

(1) Brush ice or snow from facepiece before taking it off.<br />

(2) Remove mittens or gloves, as necessary to remove facepiece.<br />

(3) Remove facepiece with hood (para 2-14 for M25A1 mask or para 2-15 for ABC-M24<br />

mask).<br />

(4) Wipe moisture or frost from insulating jacket of winterization kit after you unmask.<br />

Remove winterization kit if directed by unit NBC NCO.<br />

(5) Shake ice buildup from facepiece after you unmask.<br />

(6) Stow facepiece and hood in carrier (para 2-16).<br />
