NOTE<br />
Your unit NBC NCO supervisor will determine when winterization kit is required.<br />
Take off gloves or mittens before attempting to put on your facepiece.<br />

Follow procedures for putting<br />
on your facepiece (1) (para 2-13<br />
steps a thru g).<br />
Clear the facepiece by doing<br />
the following:<br />
(a) Unfasten winterization kit,<br />
if worn.<br />
(b) Cover openings at bottom<br />
of outlet valve cover (2)<br />
with the palm of your right<br />
hand.<br />
(c) Breathe out gently so that<br />
air escapes around sides of<br />
facepiece (1). Do not clear<br />
facepiece by exhaling a<br />
large volume of air because<br />
moist air will frost the lens.<br />
