2-20. USING MASK IN COLD WEATHER.<br />

WARNING<br />

Keep mask dry. Moisture could clog the canister and make it useless. Moisture<br />

could also short microphone connectors, which could cause a loss of communication<br />

in the tank or aircraft.<br />

a. General Instructions You Must Follow in Cold Weather.<br />

(1) During time between repeated uses, remove your facepiece from carrier and shake or<br />

flex facepiece to remove ice and snow.<br />

CAUTION<br />

Do not warm up facepiece near a heater or open flame.<br />

Warm facepiece whenever you can.<br />

In a warm indoor area, dry facepiece with a clean cloth. Carefully dry outlet and<br />

nosecup valves.<br />

Before entering subzero temperatures, install winterization kit (para 2-19).<br />

Before entering a warm area from subzero temperatures, remove frost and snow<br />

from facepiece.<br />

Use antifogging kit to reduce fogging of lens.<br />
