a. installing and Adjusting Your Hood (Cont).<br />

NOTE<br />

In very cold weather (below 32°F), keeping the outlet valve outside the hood<br />

prevents moisture in exhaled breath from condensing and freezing under the<br />

hood. In very warm weather (above 85°F), keeping the outlet valve outside the<br />

hood prevents heat from getting in the hood.<br />

(7) For outside temperatures above 85°F or below 32°F be sure outlet valve (12) is<br />

positioned outside hood (1). Between 32°F and 85°F, outlet valve (12) should be<br />

inside hood (1).<br />

(8) On the ABC-M5 hood only, perform the following steps:<br />

(a) Reach inside hood (1) and fasten hood temple straps (8) to facepiece temple<br />

straps (9).<br />

(b) Pull cords (13) tight to draw hood (1) opening around eyelens rubber flange (<strong>10</strong>).<br />

(c) Tie cords (13) around hose (14) or outlet valve (12). Be sure hood (1) will not pull<br />

away from eyelens rubber flange (<strong>10</strong>).<br />
