2-19. INSTALLING ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZED ITEMS TO YOUR MASK. a. Installing and Adjusting Your Hood. 2-114 NOTE The following procedures may be used for either the ABC-M5 Tank Mask Hood or M7 Aircraft Mask Hood. Where procedures differ, the specific hood is identified. (1) Spread hood (1) out flat with opening for eyelens facing up. (2) Adjust neck cord leather slider (2) to 2 inches (5.12cm) from end of neck cord (3). (3) Preadjust underarm straps (4) for a snug but comfortable fit then unfasten them. (4) Put facepiece (5) inside hood through lens opening. Leave hose (6) and microphone cable (7) outside hood (1) for M5 hood. Put microphone cable (7) inside hood (1) with hose (6) outside hood (1) for the M7 hood.
(5) On the ABC-M5 hood only, temple straps (8) in hood (1) should be next to temple straps (9) on the facepiece. TM 3-4240-280-10 (6) Adjust hood (1) opening around eyelens rubber flange (10), and under microphone cable stem (11) for M5 hood. Fit hood (1) opening around eyelens rubber flange (10) and over microphone cable stem (11) for M7 hood. 2-115
