It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the
18th annual TAFE NSW – South Western Sydney
Institute (SWSi) Achievement Awards. This is the
Institute’s premier event of the year celebrating
achievement and excellence in vocational education
and training for our students and staff.
The Student Awards recognise outstanding achievement
by our students across a diverse range of learning
areas. The Award winners have excelled not only in
their academic program but also in their commitment
to developing their skills and knowledge.
The success of our students is a testament to the
commitment and professionalism of our teaching
and support staff. Tonight we also celebrate the
contribution of our staff to education and training in
NSW and the critical role they have played in providing
a supportive learning environment for our students.
The achievements of our graduates and the professionalism
and skill of our staff have consolidated the Institute’s
reputation as a leading provider of vocational education
and training in Australia and internationally. We are proud
to be recognised for industry responsiveness, quality
delivery, customer service, flexibility and accessibility.
I congratulate the recipients of the TAFE NSW State
Medal Awards, Institute Student Achievement Awards
and Staff Excellence Awards, for their achievements in
2011. I acknowledge the high standards achieved by award
winners and wish them every success in the future. I
am sure our award winners will be proud ambassadors
for SWSi as they progress through their careers.
In celebrating student success, we also recognise
the vitally important role that employers, family and
friends play in student achievement. I would like to
thank all the teachers, support staff, employers, families
and friends of students who have contributed to the
excellent outcomes we are celebrating tonight.
