This project aimed to develop the concept of an outdoor
learning environment for a number of trades including
carpentry, stonemasonry, plumbing and horticulture. Following
completion, the Child Studies section will use the environment
created to provide natural outdoor play experiences for young
children and to model sustainability practices.
The Training and Assessment team have not only
achieved excellence in providing innovative teaching
and assessment practices for Institute teaching
staff, but have shown what outstanding customer
service looks like, without compromising ethics.
They have also been able to demonstrate the
value of collaboration to achieving an outstanding
outcome for the Institute in terms of the number of
teaching staff with a current teaching qualification,
as well as being able to demonstrate that SWSi
values staff. The team often did this under
difficult circumstances while maintaining their
professionalism and dedication to the job at hand.
It aimed to trial innovative ways to deliver our teaching and
assessment within authentic learning situations and develop
an environment which models appropriate sustainable
practices while developing partnerships between teaching
sections across SWSi.
