In August 2011, the Personal and Community Services Section at
Bankstown College, in conjunction with the Community, Health and
Personal Services Faculty, entered into a commercial partnership
with Juvenile Justice, Department of Attorney General and Justice
to auspice their training to new staff. The partnership has improved
the business outcomes for Juvenile Justice as their staff now have
access to pathways to higher qualifications through access to learner
evidence guides and having their on-the-job training recognised
as a formal national qualification. This innovative market driven
project supports an excellent model for collaboration and improves
SWSI’s business outcomes because it could potentially be marketed
to other government departments and industry stakeholders.
During 2010 and 2011, Johanna excelled in
creating and driving innovative new TVET
programs to meet the increased demand from
local schools to accommodate the needs of 15-
17 year old school students in line with the new
School Leaving Age policy introduced in 2009.
These new programs include the TVET SPY and
Combo courses which are to be introduced for
the first time in 2012. Johanna has also worked
tirelessly over the past 2-3 years building
relationships with local businesses to promote
School-based Apprenticeships & Traineeships
to further assist in placement of many students.
