Subject description The classification, structure and properties of ferrous and nonferrous metals and their alloys. Hot and cold forming, heat treatment and surface treatment of metals including the mechanism of corrosion and the protection of metals. Machining and fabrication of metals Testing and inspection techniques used to determine the properties of metals. Project Management will also be examined as it applies to designers and the manufacture of products within the scope of the designer. Subject description Students will be introduced to the User Co-ordinate System, 3D co-ordinate entry, model space and paper space, 3D displays and dynamic views, wireframe modelling, surface modelling, and solid modelling. The use of Autolisp, in particular its use in setting up the three dimensional modelling space, and some rendering and animation, will also be covered.
