Agency<br />
This course has been replaced by the Certificate IV in<br />
Estate Agency and is being phased out. New applications<br />
are not accepted.<br />
This course is <strong>of</strong>fered at the Prahran campus.<br />
Availability <strong>of</strong> similar programs<br />
The Advanced Certificate <strong>of</strong> Estate Agency is <strong>of</strong>fered at<br />
a number <strong>of</strong> other TAFE institutions. TAFE institutions<br />
also conduct a course in Sub-Agency Practice a number <strong>of</strong><br />
times a year. This course is aimed at people just starting in<br />
the real estate industry. Enquiries should be directed to<br />
the appropriate TAFE institution.<br />
Course aims<br />
The Advanced Certificate in Estate Agency course is<br />
designed to meet the requirements for licensing under the<br />
Estate Agents Act and also to train students in the<br />
principles and practices <strong>of</strong> the real estate pr<strong>of</strong>ession. The<br />
course is suitable for those working in positions requiring<br />
licensed real estate agents. It is also suitable for people<br />
employed in related fields, such as property development<br />
or valuations, who wish to satisfy the academic<br />
requirements to be licensed as estate agents.<br />
Career potential<br />
Completion <strong>of</strong> the twenty-three modules listed under<br />
Course structure meets the academic requirements for<br />
application for an Estate Agent's Licence and entitles the<br />
student to be issued an Advanced Certificate in Estate<br />
Agency. A further requirement for licensing is that the<br />
applicant must have held a Sub-Agent's Licence for the two<br />
years immediately preceding the licence application, and<br />
during this period have gained the equivalent <strong>of</strong> one year <strong>of</strong><br />
full-time experience as a sub-agent.<br />
Entry requirements<br />
The normal prerequisite for entry into this course is the<br />
satisfactory completion <strong>of</strong> an approved course <strong>of</strong> study at<br />
Year 12 and employment in real estate or a related<br />
industry. However, mature-age persons with sufficient<br />
relevant industrial experience to undertake the course<br />
successfully will be admitted.
