Entry requirements<br />

Students are eligible to enter this course if they<br />

have satisfactorily completed Year 12 or equivalent.<br />

Mature-age students with suitable business background will<br />

also be admitted to the course.<br />

Course availability and duration<br />

The Associate Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Office Administration)<br />

is <strong>of</strong>fered on a full-time basis over two years. Subjects must<br />

f be completed in the correct sequence and prerequisites<br />

met. Variations must be approved by course coordinators<br />

Business (Operations<br />

Management)<br />

This course is <strong>of</strong>fered at the Hawthorn campus only. The<br />

scheduling <strong>of</strong> classes for specific subjects is conditional on<br />

there being sufficient enrolments.<br />

Course aims<br />

The course is designed so that a student obtains<br />

an understanding <strong>of</strong> the operations management<br />

functions within an organisation and the techniques, skills<br />

and knowledge that are required to manage these functions.<br />

On satisfactory completion <strong>of</strong> the Advanced Certificate<br />

in Operations Management the student should be able<br />

to perform the duties and tasks <strong>of</strong> the purchasing and<br />

planning functions.<br />

Career potential<br />

On satisfactory completion <strong>of</strong> the Associate Diploma <strong>of</strong><br />

Business (Operations Management) the student should be<br />

able to:<br />

a) perform, supervise, and manage one or more <strong>of</strong> the<br />

operations management functions;<br />

or<br />

b) perform duties as a manufacture/production/<br />

operations manager <strong>of</strong> a medium to large organisation.<br />

Course description<br />

The Associate Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Operations<br />

Management) can be completed in two stages.<br />

Stage 1 -<br />

Advanced Certificate in Operations Management<br />

Students must complete fourteen subjects from the following:<br />

Group A Six compulsory subjects 6<br />

Group B Eight specified or elective subjects 8<br />

Associate Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Operations Management)<br />

Students must complete a further fourteen subjects from<br />

the following:<br />

Group B Four elective subjects 4<br />

Group C Ten compulsory subjects 10<br />

Students who have successfully completed the<br />

Advanced Certificate in Operations Management and/or<br />

the Associate Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business (Operations<br />
