This course is <strong>of</strong>fered at both Hawthorn and Prahran<br />

campuses.<br />

Course aims<br />

This course is ~rimaril~ designed to prepare students for<br />

employment in s<strong>of</strong>tware development.<br />

Career potential<br />

Daily newspapers and trade publications carry many<br />

advertisements seeking skilled personnel for computer<br />

industry jobs relevant to this course. Further indications <strong>of</strong><br />

strong employment demand have been provided by a<br />

number <strong>of</strong> recent research studies on the computer<br />

industry labour market.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional recognition<br />

Students completing the course are academically qualified<br />

to become a provisional associate member <strong>of</strong> the Australian<br />

Computer Society.<br />

Course duration<br />

The Certificate IV may be obtained after one year <strong>of</strong> fulltime<br />

study or up to three years <strong>of</strong> pan-time study.<br />

The Diploma is undertaken by two years <strong>of</strong> full-time<br />

study.<br />

Students wishing to complete the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Information<br />

<strong>Technology</strong> (S<strong>of</strong>tware Development) must have<br />

successfully completed the Certificate IV in Information<br />

<strong>Technology</strong> (S<strong>of</strong>tware Development).<br />

Course participants may exit at Certificate IV or Diploma<br />

level.<br />

The integration <strong>of</strong> common elements <strong>of</strong> study in this<br />

course facilitates job retraining and enables qualification<br />

upgrading.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Applicants will need to have completed Year 12 or<br />

equivalent. Mature-age students who have not met this<br />

requirement are encouraged to apply.<br />
