The Centre for Industry Consulting within the School <strong>of</strong><br />
Business and Information Systems was established in 1994<br />
as part <strong>of</strong> the School restructure. It has a strong reputation<br />
as a provider <strong>of</strong> consultancy services to industry. The<br />
Centre has an excellent blend <strong>of</strong> skills and resources<br />
together with a high level <strong>of</strong> expertise and experience to<br />
<strong>of</strong>fer clients within <strong>Swinburne</strong>. The Centre provides<br />
specialist consultancy services, including:<br />
curriculum development - development <strong>of</strong> curriculum<br />
framework; curriculum writing; accreditation; CBT<br />
requirements advice, instruction design;<br />
future directions training and advice - customised<br />
training and advice; workplace diagnostics;<br />
occupational analysis; training needs analysis; skills<br />
audit; workplace assessment; workplace trainers;<br />
mentoring;<br />
computer services - customised computer training;<br />
desktop publishing; computer s<strong>of</strong>tware needs advice;<br />
scanning bureau;<br />
tender writing and advice;<br />

The consultants use their creativity and initiative to<br />
research, analyse and prepare appropriate training<br />
programs tailored to the needs <strong>of</strong> clients in both the public<br />
and private sectors. The consultants are experienced in<br />
working both in a team environment and as single<br />
operators.<br />

Management<br />
This course is <strong>of</strong>fered at the Hawthorn campus<br />
This course is <strong>of</strong>fered on a part-time evening basis only. It<br />
is made up <strong>of</strong> 120 hours <strong>of</strong> core modules and provides a<br />
comprehensive overview <strong>of</strong> the human resource function.<br />
Course aims<br />
The aim <strong>of</strong> the course is to provide comprehensive specific<br />
knowledge in Human Resource Management that will<br />
enable graduates to perform at management level within<br />
public and private organisations.<br />
Career potential<br />
Graduates will operate at the senior <strong>of</strong>ficer or management<br />
level in the human resource management field and be<br />
responsible for adding value to the organisation through<br />
human resource management intervention.<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional recognition<br />
On completion graduates may be eligible for membership<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Australian Human Resources Institute and/or the<br />
Australian Institute <strong>of</strong> Training and Development.<br />
Entry requirements<br />
In order to gain entry into this course applicants should<br />
have a recognised undergraduate degree or experience as<br />
deemed as appropriate by the selection panel to<br />
successfully complete the course .<br />

This course is <strong>of</strong>fered on a part - time, evening basis only<br />
and will take one year to complete.<br />
