Objectives and content<br />
The aim <strong>of</strong> this subject is to provide an understanding <strong>of</strong><br />
the basic theories and concepts underlying the justice<br />
system and a framework for other justice subjects <strong>of</strong>fered.<br />
This subject will explore origins, types and sources <strong>of</strong> law<br />
in Australia as well as administration and enforcement <strong>of</strong><br />
the law. Law reform and alternatives will also be explored.<br />

TH253 Community Law 1<br />

assignments (related to legal practice and ethics),<br />
development <strong>of</strong> resource guide and class participation<br />
A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Social Science (Justice).<br />
Objectives and content<br />
The aim <strong>of</strong> this subject is to ~rovide skills and kowledge<br />
for para-legal workers within the justice system. The<br />
subject will deal with areas commonly dealt with in legal<br />
practice in both community legal centres and The Legal<br />
Aid Commission as well as in related community<br />
organisations. For example: legal aid, family law<br />
~rocedures, conflict between individuals, legal research,<br />
credit debt matters, neighbours, accidents, cross-cultural<br />
issues and legal ethics.
