TG012 Psychology<br />

VCE).<br />
Objectives and content<br />
Students will be introduced to psychology as the science <strong>of</strong><br />
human behaviour. This subject touches almost every aspect<br />
<strong>of</strong> our lives and should provide students with insight into<br />
the everyday phenomena <strong>of</strong> human actions, attitudes, and<br />
motives. The course combines theory with practical<br />
exercises and activities.<br />
TG013 Environmental Studies<br />

A subject in the Victorian Certificate <strong>of</strong> Education (Adult<br />
VCE).<br />
Objectives and content<br />
Unit 3 involves an investigation <strong>of</strong> the components <strong>of</strong> the<br />
ecosphere which are used or developed to satisfy human<br />
needs. The conceptual framework environment function,<br />
human impact and conservation is used to consider the<br />
environmental implications <strong>of</strong> the extraction, production<br />
and consumption <strong>of</strong> resources. Examples are selected from<br />
flow, stock and continuous resources, with at least one<br />
resource examined in an Australian context. Unit 4: A<br />
Sustainable Earth focuses on the interdependence <strong>of</strong> the<br />
biotic and abiotic components <strong>of</strong> the ecosphere and the<br />
role <strong>of</strong> human activity in both modifying and restoring the<br />
self-sustaining nature <strong>of</strong> the Earth's life support system.<br />
TG014 Political Studies<br />

VCE).<br />
Obj ves and content<br />
Unit 3: Political systems and structure <strong>of</strong> power looks at<br />
v, the political systems <strong>of</strong> Australia and one other country. In<br />
C<br />
-. each case, the relationship between political institutions<br />
and the core values, beliefs and principles <strong>of</strong> the society are<br />
explored. The actual operation <strong>of</strong> political systems is<br />
2 considered with reference to the institutional frameworks<br />
on which they are based. Unit 4: Political systems and<br />
structure <strong>of</strong> power takes a key example <strong>of</strong> public policy in<br />
Australia and examines it in detail to enhance<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> political decision making. Attention is<br />
paid to the ways in which debate is conducted, support for<br />
various positions is mobilised and influence exerted. The<br />
implications for the role <strong>of</strong> government in the system are<br />
explored. Political change in another country is analysed in<br />
terms <strong>of</strong> its source, opposition and effect both within the<br />
country and beyond.<br />
TG015 Human Development in Society<br />

VCE).<br />
Objedives and content<br />
Unit 3: People, food and nutrition examines the vital role<br />
<strong>of</strong> food in people's lives, its importance in physiological<br />
development and its role in the development <strong>of</strong> social and<br />
cultural patterns. The numerous influences on food choice<br />
and the effect <strong>of</strong> the availability <strong>of</strong> a great variety <strong>of</strong> foods<br />
on food trends in Australia is also examined. Unit 4:<br />
Growth and development examines growth and<br />
development across the human life span, including factors<br />
affecting growth and development, the management <strong>of</strong><br />
resources at difference stages <strong>of</strong> the life span, and<br />
community resources available to assist growth and<br />
development.<br />
TGOl7 English as a Second Language (ESL)<br />

A subject in the Victorian Certificate <strong>of</strong> Education (Adult<br />
VCE) .<br />
Objectives and content<br />
Although no longer a separate subject, a special English<br />
course conducted within VCE English guidelines will cater<br />
specifically for students whose first language is not English.<br />
Students may apply to be assessed under VBOS ESL<br />
guidelines if they have been living in Australia for less than<br />
six years and their first language is not English.<br />
TG039 Further Mathematics<br />

Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Methods 3 and 4.<br />
Content: Core - Coordinate geometry; trigonometry;<br />
algebra; calculus; differential equations; kinematics; vectors<br />
in two and three dimensions. Options: From - Statistics<br />
and Probability; Geometry; Mechanics; Logic.<br />
TG041 Mathematical Methods<br />
