NCS004 Work Team Communication<br />

Hawthorn Prerequisite: Nil<br />

A subject in the Certificate I in Electrical (Pre-<br />

Apprenticeship), the Diploma in Fire <strong>Technology</strong>,<br />

Certificate IV in Fire <strong>Technology</strong>, the Diploma in Applied<br />

Science (Materials Engineering), Certificate IV in Materials<br />

Science and the Certificate IV in Information <strong>Technology</strong>:<br />

S<strong>of</strong>tware Applications.<br />

Content<br />

This module will prepare the student to participate in a<br />

small group discussion to reach agreement on a workplace<br />

related issue. Co-operate with team members to plan and<br />

prepare a simple presentation. Present a job related report<br />

to a group.<br />

NCS005 Dealing with Conflict<br />

Total hours 20 Hawthorn<br />

A subject in the Certificate IV in Forensic Studies and the<br />

Advanced Certificate in Management.<br />

Content<br />

Identification <strong>of</strong> possible workplace conflict. Strategies for<br />

constructive conflict resolution.<br />

NCS006 Writing Workplace Documents<br />

Hawthorn Prerequisite: Nil<br />

A subject in the Diploma in Fire <strong>Technology</strong> and the<br />

Certificate IV in Fire <strong>Technology</strong>, the Diploma in Applied<br />

Science (Materials Engineering), the Certificate IV in<br />

Materials Science, the Certificate IV in Renewable Energy<br />

<strong>Technology</strong> and the Advanced Certificate in Management.<br />

Content<br />

Provides competency based training in communication<br />

skills to write routine and non routing workplace<br />

documents. The participants may be responsible for<br />

others. On completion <strong>of</strong> this module the participant will<br />

be able to plan and write complex workplace documents.<br />

NCS009 Negotiating Skills<br />

A subject in the Advanced Certificate in Human Resource<br />

Operations.<br />

Content<br />

This module is designed to address the following<br />

competencies: collecting, analysing and organis&<br />

information. communicating " ideas and information.<br />

listening and questioning techniques, and problem solving.<br />

A subject in the Advanced Certificate in Human Resource<br />

Content<br />

Enables the participant to work independently on tasks<br />

which require a conbination <strong>of</strong> technical and theoretical<br />

knowledge and motor skills. The participants may range<br />

from those who have limited creative, planning, design or<br />

supervisory functions to those who have significant<br />

responsibility related to these functions.<br />

NCS012 Meetings<br />

A subject in the Association Diploma <strong>of</strong> Business: Credit<br />

Management, the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Fire <strong>Technology</strong>.<br />

Content<br />

The purpose <strong>of</strong> this module is to provide competency<br />

based training in effective communication skills in<br />

organising and conducting structured meetings, and in<br />

recording the outcomes <strong>of</strong> those meetings in the<br />

workplace.<br />

NCS015 Presenting Reports<br />

Hawthorn Prerequisite: NCSOO4, NCS006<br />

A subject in the the Advanced Certificate in General<br />

Insurance, the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Fire <strong>Technology</strong>, Certificate IV<br />

in Forensic Studies, Diploma in Applied Science (Materials<br />

Engineering) and the Certificate IV in Materials Science.<br />

Content<br />

The purpose <strong>of</strong> this module is to provide competency<br />

based training in effective communication at the<br />

parapr<strong>of</strong>essional level in writing and presenting a<br />

document which investigates a specified issue.<br />

NCS017 Writing Technical Documents<br />

A subject in the Certificate IV in Information <strong>Technology</strong>:<br />

Content<br />

This module will enable the student to prepare an outline<br />

<strong>of</strong> a technical document relevant to a specified industry.<br />
