ideologies and theories? - an evaluation and comparison <strong>of</strong><br />

Objectives and content<br />

Computer literacy is almost an essential prerequisite to any<br />

tertiary study and this component <strong>of</strong> the course introduces<br />

students to word processing, spreadsheets and other useful<br />

computer packages. In addition, students are made familiar<br />

with basic statistics and the use <strong>of</strong> computer based<br />

statistical packages employed in the social sciences.<br />

Objectives and content<br />

A detailed examination <strong>of</strong> a single text which will assist<br />

students to develop skills in academic reading. Issues<br />

involved here include identifying themes, how a central<br />

text is approached, distinguishing fact from opinion, what<br />

evidence is trustworthy and what can be challenged.<br />
