Content<br />

This module will enable a student to examine an<br />

organisation and identify its goals, objectives, functions,<br />

relationship with the financial system, organisational<br />

structure and the effects <strong>of</strong> technological change on an<br />

organisation.<br />

ITB402 /ITB417 Relational Databases - Logical<br />

and Physical Design<br />

Content<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> these modules is to develop skills in the<br />

methods associated with the specification, analysis and<br />

documentation <strong>of</strong> logical relational databases and the<br />

physical implementation <strong>of</strong> logical designs for single-table<br />

and multi-table relational databases.<br />

ITB404 Business lnformation Processing<br />

Content<br />

This module will enable the student to describe the<br />

function <strong>of</strong> the various business sub-systems, the<br />

information flow between them and the function and<br />

content <strong>of</strong> typical business internal and external<br />

transaction documents. Students will also be able to state<br />

the purpose and scope <strong>of</strong> Decision Support Systems and<br />

Management Information Systems.<br />

ITB406 System Documentation Methods<br />

Total hours 20 Prahran<br />

A subject in the Certificate IV and Diploma in Information<br />

<strong>Technology</strong>: S<strong>of</strong>tware Development.<br />

Content<br />

This module aims to provide students with an ability to use<br />

standard graphical and written notational techniques to<br />

describe typical business data processing systems.<br />

ITB407 Systems Development Models<br />

A subject in the Certificate IV and Diploma in Information<br />

<strong>Technology</strong>: S<strong>of</strong>tware Development; and the Certificate IV<br />

and Diploma in Information <strong>Technology</strong>: Technical and<br />

Content<br />

This module provides students with an understanding <strong>of</strong><br />

the purpose and outcomes <strong>of</strong> the different phases <strong>of</strong> the<br />

traditional and two other non - traditional models <strong>of</strong> the<br />

systems development process used by systems development<br />

~r<strong>of</strong>essionals. and with the criteria to use in order to<br />

choose the most appropriate model for a specific project.<br />

ITB408 Systems Development - Preliminary<br />

Investigation and System Analysis<br />

This module provides students with the opportunity to<br />

carry out and document a preliminary investigation <strong>of</strong> a<br />

proposed development project and to carry out a systems<br />

analysis <strong>of</strong> a system/task and document the results.<br />

ITB409 Systems Development - Logical Design<br />

and Feasibility Analysis<br />

Total hours 20 Prahran Prerequisite: ITB406, [TB408<br />

A subject in the Certificate IV and Diploma in Information<br />

<strong>Technology</strong>: S<strong>of</strong>tware Development.<br />

Content<br />

This module provides students with the opportunity to<br />

learn and practise the skills and techniques used to develop<br />

and document the logical design <strong>of</strong> a new/modified system,<br />

and prepare a feasibility analysis.<br />

ITB410 Systems Development - Physical<br />

Design and System Implementation<br />

Total hours 20 Prahran Prerequisite: ITB409, ITB402<br />

A subject in the Certificate IV and Diploma in Information<br />

<strong>Technology</strong>: S<strong>of</strong>tware Development<br />

Content<br />

This module provides students with the opportunity to<br />

develop and document the physical design <strong>of</strong> a proposed<br />

system, and document and carry out an implementation<br />

program for the proposed system.<br />

ITB411 lnformation Gathering Methods<br />

Total hours 20 Prahran<br />

A subject in the Certificate N and Diploma in Information<br />

<strong>Technology</strong>: S<strong>of</strong>tware Development and the Certificate IV<br />

and Diploma in Information <strong>Technology</strong>: Technical and<br />

User Support.<br />

Content<br />

This module provides students <strong>of</strong> systems analysis with<br />

skills and practice in a number <strong>of</strong> methods used by systems<br />

analysis to gather information from large 'pools' <strong>of</strong><br />

sources.<br />
