INS032 lnsurance Classes<br />
Prerequisite: INS031<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> this module is to develop the student's<br />
knowledge <strong>of</strong> the forms <strong>of</strong> insurance contracts that cover<br />
risks to persons, property and liability.<br />
INS033 Policy Processing<br />
Prerequisite: INS031<br />
Familiarises the student with the format <strong>of</strong> the specialised<br />
documents used in an insurance <strong>of</strong>fice. Outlines the<br />
purpose <strong>of</strong> the parts <strong>of</strong> a policy document; completion <strong>of</strong> a<br />
policy document and the steps in the issue; maintenance<br />
and renewal <strong>of</strong> policy documents.<br />
INS034 Claims Handling<br />
Prerequisite: Nil<br />
Module develops knowledge related to the terms and<br />
procedures used in handling a claim settlement and the<br />
impacts <strong>of</strong> relevant legislation and court processes.<br />
INS041 lnsurance Law and Regulation<br />
Prerequisites: NAP754 NAP7fi2, INS031<br />
This module aims to provide an understanding <strong>of</strong> the legal<br />
environment relating to insurance and explains the impact<br />
<strong>of</strong> legislation on both insurance companies and contracts <strong>of</strong><br />
insurance.<br />
INS042 Policy Coverage l<br />
Prerequisites: INS032<br />
Module develops the underlying knowledge and skills<br />
necessary to interpret and implement a policy <strong>of</strong> insurance.<br />
INS043 Underwriting l<br />
Prerequisites: INS042, NAP720, NAP721<br />
This module develops the fundamental skills and<br />
knowledge required in assessing and underwriting risks.<br />
INS044 Claims Management<br />
Prerequisites: NIL<br />
This module aims to further develop the knowledge, skills<br />
and attitudes required to manage insurance claims.<br />
INS051 Underwriting II<br />
Prerequisites: INS043<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> the module is to apply the underpinning<br />
knowledge and skills to assess and underwrite risks relating<br />
to property, construction and erection, liability and<br />
marine.<br />
INS052 Claims Management ll<br />

This module develops the skills and attitudes to manage<br />
complex insurance claims.<br />
INS053 lnsurance Company Reporting<br />

The purpose <strong>of</strong> this module is to provide the underlying<br />
knowledge and skills necessary to complete and interpret<br />
insurance company accounts.<br />
INS054 lnsurance Distribution<br />
Prerequisites: NIL<br />
Explains the pattern <strong>of</strong> distribution <strong>of</strong> insurance products<br />
including the legal and regulatory environment.<br />
INS055 Policy Coverage ll<br />

The module aims to develop the fundamental skills and<br />
knowledge necessary to interpret a policy <strong>of</strong> insurance.<br />
INS056 Marketing Fundamentals<br />
Prerequisites: NIL<br />
This module introduces the marketing concept and<br />
outlines the ways in which the concept is applied in<br />
commercial organisations. It provides the foundation<br />
knowledge and skills required for further studies in<br />
marketing and related courses.<br />
INS057 Management <strong>of</strong> Organisations<br />
Prerequisites: NIL<br />
This module provides the fundamental knowledge, and<br />
develops skills in management. Topics include:<br />
organisational culture, leadership, theorists an models <strong>of</strong><br />
change and conflict resolution.<br />

Content<br />
This module is intended to provide the student with the<br />
skills and knowledge to use logic and flow control, and to<br />
develop and document algorithms in a way that is<br />
appropriate for implementation using a third generation<br />
programming language (3GL).<br />

Content<br />
These modules provide students with knowledge <strong>of</strong> the<br />
levels <strong>of</strong> computer languages and translation methods, skills<br />
to implement simple algorithms involving the three<br />
programming 'structures' and nesting them together,<br />
techniques for implementing code in a structured fashion,<br />
terminal input/output design and debugging in a 3GL<br />
programming language, concept <strong>of</strong> 'case', one-dimensional<br />
arrays, and the development <strong>of</strong> a pr<strong>of</strong>essional approach to<br />
documentation and testing.<br />
