Provides students with the knowledge <strong>of</strong> health and<br />

principles and the skills to apply correct hygiene principles<br />

and practices when caring for infants and young children.<br />

AS520 Supervised Fieldwork Placement 1 B<br />

84 hours Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Community Services (Child<br />

Care).<br />

Students undertake supervised field work placement in<br />

child care settings with 0 - 6 year olds. Students undertake<br />

supervised practical experiences in which they implement<br />

and directly practise skills and knowledge gained in theory<br />

class.<br />

community <strong>of</strong> the agencies in which they are undertaking<br />

placements<br />

AS526 Neonatal Care<br />

Increases knowledge <strong>of</strong> the development <strong>of</strong> babies from<br />

conception through to six weeks and enables students to<br />

confidently provide effective and appropriate care for very<br />

young babies, provide effective support, information and<br />

demonstrations to the parents <strong>of</strong> a very young baby and<br />

gain an understanding <strong>of</strong> the impact <strong>of</strong> birth on the family<br />

unit.<br />

AS527 Supervised Fieldwork Placement 2 A<br />

Students undertake supervised field work placements in<br />

neonatal care settings and implement skills in providing<br />

neonatal care and family support.<br />

Provides students with an initial overview <strong>of</strong> the stages <strong>of</strong><br />
