AP710 Support Studies 2<br />

Objectives and content<br />

This module enables students to extend on their experience<br />

in other modules <strong>of</strong> the course by providing them with a<br />

range <strong>of</strong> elective options which relate to their pursuit <strong>of</strong><br />

enquiry.<br />

AP711 Painting 1<br />

3 hours per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objedives and content<br />

Students will be encouraged to produce paintings which<br />

make use <strong>of</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong> techniques and applications with<br />

an emphasis on current painting practice.<br />

AP712 Printmaking 1<br />

3 hours per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objectives and content<br />

This subject provides students with the skills and practical<br />

knowledge in ~rintmaking to enable them to ~roduce<br />

prints expressing individual ideas and concepts.<br />

AP713 Sculpture 1<br />

3 hours per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objectives and content<br />

This subject provides students with an introduction to the<br />

complex relationship between developing concepts and<br />

precepts and their synthesis with the manipulation <strong>of</strong><br />

g materials to form a basis for producing sculpture.<br />

T Objectives and content<br />

The basic principles <strong>of</strong> black and white photography are<br />

presented in the context <strong>of</strong> contemporary gallery practice<br />

and theory. Areas covered include: camera operation,<br />

exposure, lighting, chemistry, printing techniques,<br />

mounting and display. A substantial folio is produced<br />

through a series <strong>of</strong> challenging and innovative projects.<br />

AP715 Painting 2<br />

3 hours per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objectives and content<br />

Students will expand upon knowledge gained in Painting 1<br />

and use their journal as a source <strong>of</strong> material for the<br />

formation <strong>of</strong> contemporary painting ideas.<br />

AP716 Printmaking 2<br />

3 hours per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objedives and content<br />

To expand on the knowledge and skills gained in<br />

Printmaking 1 and to allow for broader exploration into<br />

printmaking disciplines.<br />

AP717 Sculpture 2<br />

3 hours per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objectives and content<br />

To extend and reinforce the relationship between ideas and<br />

source information and the manipulation <strong>of</strong> materials as<br />

the essence <strong>of</strong> producing sculpture. Emphasis is placed on<br />

analvsine , " the links between the choice <strong>of</strong> material and the<br />

way in which materials accentuate or increase accessibility<br />

to the information and intention <strong>of</strong> a piece <strong>of</strong> sculpture.<br />

Objectives and content<br />

Students should now be able to start making appropriate<br />

decisions regarding the use <strong>of</strong> suitable techniques for their<br />

own theoretical and conceptual purposes.<br />

AP723 Content and Culture 3<br />

3 hours p& week for 16 weeks<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objectives and content<br />

To increase students' exposure to a broad range <strong>of</strong><br />

philosophical theories and their influence on the arts. To<br />

develop and adapt knowledge gained in Context and<br />

Culture 1 and 2 and Contemporary Art Studies 1 and 2<br />

with regard to individual student philosophy and response<br />

to the art production process. This module relates to all the<br />

modules in the Visual Arts course.<br />

AP724 Contemporary Art Studies 3<br />

I hour per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Objedives and content<br />

This subject aims to increase students' exposure to a broad<br />

range <strong>of</strong> history and contemporary theory and its influence<br />

on the arts. To develop and adapt knowledge gained in<br />

Contemporary Art Studies 1 and 2 with regard to students'<br />

personal approach and response to the art making process.<br />

This module relates to the major study.<br />

AP725 Drawing 3<br />

3 hours per week for 16 weeks Prahran<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Visual Arts.<br />

Obiectives and content<br />

This subject aims to develop the students' perception <strong>of</strong> the<br />

role and place <strong>of</strong> drawing and its relevance to the students'<br />

major study.<br />

AP726 Art Business Practice 1<br />
