ABH501 lntroduction to Sales (20 Hrs)<br />
This module deals with the appropriate documentation,<br />
necessary to complete a sale. Specific topics include<br />
Contract Notes, S24 <strong>of</strong> the Sale <strong>of</strong> Land Act requirements,<br />
the agent's obligations between contract and settlement and<br />
the <strong>of</strong>fence <strong>of</strong> secret commission.<br />
ABH502 lntroduction to Property Management<br />
(1 5 Hrs)<br />
This module teaches the student to effectively list<br />
properties for sale and lease and accurately complete the<br />
appropriate documentation. Emphasis is placed upon the<br />
relevant sections <strong>of</strong> the Residential Tenancies Act, Retail<br />
Tenancies Act and the Equal Opportunity Act.<br />
ABH503 Real Estate Computing (1 5 Hrs)<br />
After completing this module, the student should be able to<br />
use a real estate sales, listing and property management<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware package(s).<br />
ABH 504 Real Estate Accounting (45 Hrs)<br />
This module introduces the student to the fundamental<br />
principles <strong>of</strong> accounting and then branches into trust<br />
accounting principles as applicable to a real estate agent,<br />
including relevant legislation, journals, ledgers, statements,<br />
bank reconciliations and payroll.<br />

This module provides the student with the knowledge and<br />
skills to generate computer reports relating to real estate<br />
sales and property management accounting.<br />

ABH508 Real Estate Consumer Protection (15-<br />
20 Hrs)<br />
The focus with this module is on the understanding <strong>of</strong> the<br />
requirements <strong>of</strong> consumer protection legislation on real<br />
estate and on real estate agents. Various provisions <strong>of</strong> Acts<br />
will be studied. both State and Commonwealth.<br />
Specifically, it examines actions which may be contrary to<br />
consumer protection provisions <strong>of</strong> the Trade Practices Act,<br />
the Fair adin in^ Act i~ic) and the Estate Agents<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Conduct Regulations.<br />
ABH510 Contract Law for Real Estate (20 Hrs)<br />
This module provides the student with the knowledge and<br />
application <strong>of</strong> basic legal principles relating to contract law<br />
and especially as they relate to contracts for the sale <strong>of</strong> real<br />
estate. The student is required to examine a case study and<br />
argue whether there is a valid contract or one which is<br />
void, voidable or unenforceable.<br />
ABH511 Property Law (25-30 Hrs)<br />
This module deals with some <strong>of</strong> the major legal principles<br />
applicable to property law - specifically interests in land,<br />
the types <strong>of</strong> title systems, land subdivisions and mortgages.<br />
ABH512 Residential Tenancies (20 Hrs)<br />
This module is designed to enable the participant to explain<br />
the legal requirements placed on an estate agent /landlord<br />
and tenant when entering into a residential tenancy<br />
agreement and the processes to be used for the resolution<br />
<strong>of</strong> residential tenancy disputes. Some specific areas covered<br />
include security deposits, rejecting applications and the<br />
rights and duties <strong>of</strong> landlords and tenants.<br />
ABH 51 4 Property Management Listings (1 2<br />
H rs)<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> this module is to enable student to market<br />
a property management department to landlords and<br />
prospective landlords and obtain property management<br />
listings.<br />
ABH515 Renting Residential Properties (1 0 Hrs)<br />
This module studies the principles and practice involved in<br />
locating and selecting tenants for residential properties.<br />
Specifically, it looks at marketing methods , tenancy<br />
application forms, interviewing prospective tenants and<br />
checking their references.<br />
ABH516 Servicing Managed Properties (20<br />
H rs)<br />
After completing this module the participant should be<br />
able to maintain the condition <strong>of</strong> managed properties and<br />
minimise the risks to owners. The following topics are<br />
covered: risk management, insurance, property inspections,<br />
repairs and maintenance, tenancy renewals.<br />

Management (20 Hrs)<br />
The content <strong>of</strong> this module covers the following areas:<br />
commercial, retail, industrial and holiday leasing. It also<br />
looks at dispute solving mechanisms.<br />
ABH525 Listings (30 Hrs)<br />
After completing this module, the participant will have<br />
studied the processes involved in prospecting for listings,<br />
delivering listing presentations, closing listing presentations<br />
and completing the appropriate paper work for a range <strong>of</strong><br />
property types and market conditions.<br />

and Faults (1 5 Hrs)<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> this module is to enable the participant to<br />
identify the main features <strong>of</strong> different building styles,<br />
