Content<br />
The aim <strong>of</strong> this course is to introduce students to the<br />
language and concepts <strong>of</strong> psychology. Students negotiate<br />
course content. Topics may include: Freud, dreams,<br />
Maslow's hierarchy <strong>of</strong> needs, relationships, 'difficult<br />
people', anger/grief/depression, stress management, early<br />
childhood development, assertiveness training, time<br />
management. Students also have an opportunity to arrange<br />
for guest speakers <strong>of</strong> their choice.<br />

Obiedives and content<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> these subjects is to develop an<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> the design process, principles and<br />
elements, both from an historical and cultural perspective.<br />
It looks at how current design practices are applied to<br />
solving visual communication problems inherent in typical<br />
job brief. Opportunities are presented to progress from<br />
manipulating basic design elements, to analysing the<br />
technical and aesthetic aspects and apply this knowledge to<br />
increasingly complex 2D and 3D projects.<br />
AA348 Drawing<br />

Obiectives and content<br />
The aim <strong>of</strong> this subject is to introduce the creative<br />
techniques and drawing skills by a graphic artist to produce<br />
work suitable for commercial reproduction.<br />

Content<br />
Finished Art studies begins with the basic preparation <strong>of</strong><br />
camera-ready artwork, both manually and computer<br />
generated, one and two colour designs and progresses to<br />
the production <strong>of</strong> four colour process artwork for a variety<br />
<strong>of</strong> typical commercial projects as well as the production <strong>of</strong><br />
colour presentation visuals and mock-ups.<br />
AA350 Occupational Health and Safety<br />
1 hour per week for one semester Prahran<br />
A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Graphic Art.<br />
Content<br />
This subject deals with the history, nature and control <strong>of</strong><br />
chemical hazards for the art worker and the study <strong>of</strong> the<br />
hazards that exist in the physical environment and how<br />
they can be prevented or minimised. It looks at the<br />
obligations <strong>of</strong> employers and employees under OH&S<br />
legislation and the strategies used to manage OH&S issues<br />
in the workplace.<br />
M351 Arts Law<br />

A subject in the Diploma <strong>of</strong> Arts: Graphic Art.<br />
Objedves and content<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> this subject is to introduce the legal rights<br />
and responsibilities <strong>of</strong> graphic artists with respect to<br />
contracts, payment and copyright.
