Companies and Community<br />
Theatre<br />
This course is <strong>of</strong>fered at Prahran campus.<br />
The course aims to train theatre workers who may wish<br />
to work in a small company or as individuals with other<br />
artists on specific projects. These theatre workers have<br />
performance skills but also require a range <strong>of</strong> skills<br />
necessary to mount and manage a project or event.<br />
Career potential<br />
This course enables students to develop abilities in a<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> theatre styles including scripted productions,<br />
movement based theatre, puppetry, comedy, circus, street<br />
theatre and special performance events in small theatre<br />
companies, community theatres, theatre-in-education,<br />
festivals, project management and entrepreneurial projects.<br />
Further studies pathways<br />
Graduates may choose to pursue further studies in<br />
performing arts areas in higher education.<br />
Entry requirements<br />
Admission to the course is conditional on successful<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> VCE. Provision is made for students<br />
returning to education.<br />
Applicants will be asked to participate in a day <strong>of</strong> special<br />
workshop and written activities.<br />
Recognition <strong>of</strong> prior learning<br />
Through the recognition <strong>of</strong> prior learning, participants<br />
will be given credit for subjects where they can provide<br />
evidence that they have achieved the learning outcomes.<br />
Learning outcomes include:<br />
The applicant has actually completed the learning<br />
outcome that is being claimed;<br />
The learning outcome is still valid and er form able;<br />
The learning has reached the accepted level;<br />
The learning is applicable to the area claimed;<br />
The learning outcome can be applied outside the<br />
specific context in which it was learned;<br />
A sound connection can be made between the learning<br />
outcomes and the vocational outcomes.<br />
Course availability and duration<br />
The course is <strong>of</strong>fered as a two year full-time course. Parttime<br />
