to provide students with the knowledge and skills to<br />

obtain one or more welding certificates in accordance<br />

with AS1796.<br />

Course duration<br />

Basic Welding<br />

The nominal course duration is one year consisting <strong>of</strong> two-<br />

120 hour semesters.<br />

Advanced Welding<br />

The nominal course duration is one year consisting <strong>of</strong> two-<br />

120 hour semesters.<br />

Welding Certificate to AS1796<br />

Nominally 120 hours over one semester; this could vary<br />

depending on the prerequisite modules required.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Students should have completed the appropriate<br />

prerequisite modules or have relevant industry experience.<br />

There are no formal prerequisites for Basic Welding.<br />
