<strong>Course</strong> overview<br />

The core subjects provide the knowledge <strong>and</strong> basic<br />

skills required in the broad business environment,<br />

while the enterprise management stream extends<br />

<strong>and</strong> reinforces these foundations as they apply in<br />

the operation of small <strong>and</strong> medium sized<br />

organisations. The tourism stream provides a more<br />

industry-specific focus for the underst<strong>and</strong>ings<br />

provided in the business subjects, <strong>and</strong> uses an<br />

interdisciplinary approach which views tourism as<br />

a form of human behaviour as well as a business<br />

interest.<br />

This dual award provides an opportunity for<br />

students to combine specific customer-related<br />

competencies <strong>and</strong> hospitality industry experience<br />

with the knowledge, skills <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong>ings<br />

required for sound management in the broader<br />

tourism system. Students will undertake concurrent<br />

studies at theoretical <strong>and</strong> practical levels in the<br />

hospitality, tourism <strong>and</strong> enterprise management<br />

areas, <strong>and</strong> have the opportunity to relate these to<br />

other business areas such as marketing, financial<br />

management, <strong>and</strong> human resource management.<br />
