This double degree covers specialist study of the<br />
physical, physiological <strong>and</strong> anatomical aspects of<br />
the human body <strong>and</strong> its medical care, plus a full<br />
span of studies important to a professional<br />
electrical/electronic/biomedical engineer.<br />

Medical biophysics, cell function, cardiology,<br />
respiratory technology, neuroscience, electronics,<br />
biomedical <strong>and</strong> scientific instrumentation <strong>and</strong><br />
monitoring systems, medical imaging, electrical<br />
engineering, power systems, microprocessor <strong>and</strong><br />
computer systems, automatic control systems,<br />
digital signal <strong>and</strong> image processing.<br />

score of at least 20 in English.<br />
This course is not available to students who have<br />
completed a Diploma of Community Services<br />

<strong>Course</strong> overview<br />
Students undertake both a Diploma of Community<br />
Services (Welfare Studies) <strong>and</strong> a Social Science<br />
degree. The two awards are linked through their<br />
common focus on community <strong>and</strong> human services<br />
<strong>and</strong> the social <strong>and</strong> behavioural sciences. Students<br />
have the opportunity to develop community<br />
service orientated competencies combined with a<br />
sound theoretical grounding in social <strong>and</strong><br />
behavioural science.<br />
Career opportunities<br />
The Welfare Studies Diploma is recognised by<br />
government <strong>and</strong> non-government agencies for<br />
employment in the fields of child welfare, youth<br />
work, disability, family work <strong>and</strong> aged care. The<br />
Psychology major provides a basis for further<br />
studies <strong>and</strong> a career as a psychologist.<br />
