The great thing about the west coast of the island of
Newfoundland (where Corner Brook is) is there’s lots
of sun in the summer and fall (for hiking and biking),
lots of snow in the winter (for skiing and snowshoeing).

(cross country) – 15 minutes from campus (by car)
n Gros Morne National Park (a UNESCO World
Heritage Site) – one hour away

n Sandy beaches of Burgeo and Shallow Bay – two
hours away
n L’Anse aux Meadows (the Vikings’ digs from 1,000
years ago) – 5 hours away
As a student at Grenfell, your extracurricular activities
might take you to any of these places (especially if you
join the Grenfell Outdoor Club!). Or better yet – your
studies might take you there.
Adventuring isn’t just for evenings and weekends.
During the week you might find yourself on a field
trip studying the unique geology and environment
of western Newfoundland. Whether you’re a student
of science, literature, theatre or psychology, you are
influenced by your surroundings.
