As a nurse, you will be part of the largest group of health
care professionals in Canada. And you’ll be in demand
worldwide. Career opportunities extend outside traditional
hospital roles. You could work as a practitioner in remote and
rural areas, conduct research, monitor occupational health
risks or work in the community health field. Or you could find
yourself working as an administrator or educator. Either way,
you will be a critical part of the community you serve.
You will have many opportunities to gain first-hand knowledge
of what it takes to have a successful nursing career. The ability
to think critically, reflect personally and make informed
decisions based on ethics and evidence, as well as having
sound clinical judgment and technological competence are
all essential parts of making informed decisions as a nurse.
Western Regional School of Nursing offers low studentinstructor
ratios in classrooms and clinical settings. The
bachelor of nursing program is offered at three sites:
Western Regional School of Nursing in Corner Brook,
as well as the Centre for Nursing Studies and
Memorial University, both in St. John’s.
