to Homer’s Illiad. And who knew there was a
connection between the Family Guy and philosophy?
In Humanities 1001, for instance, students will
engage the most interesting music, novels and film
in the contemporary world and discover their roots
in ages past. In this course time travel is not only
possible, it’s mandatory. And Humanities 1002
examines how books have changed the world,
from Marx and Shakespeare to Dante and Plato.
You’ll study six revolutionary texts from a variety
of disciplines.
The pedagogical focus is on core texts considered in
their historical, social, and political contexts. Cultural
literacy demands familiarity with the most influential
and most profound works in literature, philosophy,
art, science, music and religion.
