In the environmental studies program, you will
take courses covering topics such as resource
management, mapping, environmental economics,
ethics and policy. We offer two concentrations within
this program: environmental perspectives and
outdoor environmental pursuits.
Environmental perspectives will help you develop
a comprehensive understanding of environmental
issues.
Outdoor environmental pursuits explores the
hows and whys of various outdoor skills, such
as kayaking and skiing, in a way that respects
our valuable environmental resources.
EFFECTING
CHANGE:
The folks at Grenfell’s new
Environmental Policy Institute
want to get people talking
and thinking about our environment. They research
the questions that we are facing and encourage
debate on critical environmental policy issues with a
focus on climate change, energy and related issues.

Maria Makowska grew up in Coquitlam, BC, and fell in love with nature
at an early age during her family's summer camping trips. "I chose to
study at Grenfell because of the small class setting, which has allowed
me to make great connections with professionals in my field," she says.
Maria received the Gros Morne Internship in her final year of study,
which gave her "a great opportunity to put the skills I had learned
to the test and gave me hands-on experience on conducting my
own research."
