The bridge is generally regarded as a transitory ,directional space, where the
housing as a non directional, stationary one. At the same time, the first one can
be regarded as a fast space and the second one as a slow space. The definition
of the space as either one or the other is given by the ration of transitory speed
and programmatic load. The project addresses the specific site condition given
by the juxtaposition of the directional and non directional space typology by
understanding the bridge as an experience of crossing. The solution offers the
possibility to disconnect from the city, observing it from a different perspective,
while slowing down from the everyday life rhythm. In order to achieve the above
mentioned goals(disconnect and slow down) we have proposed an integrated
system of sequential events within the transitional field, mixing public and
private spaces. The result offers a multitude of perspectives which challenges
the visual and emotional perception of the passer-by,as well as the one of the
resident ,forced to interact on a common ground. The housing programmatic
layout and orientation are defined by Moldava River presence, being
developed on two levels for maximum panorama. The second challenge was
how to define the private backyard of the residential in relation to the environment
and the public space. The choice of placing the parking spaces on the
river banks and promoting only the pedestrian and bicycle access on the site
enhances our above mentioned attitude regarding the crossing experience and
the moment .
