E Q U E S T R I A N G A R D E N
Main intention of the project is to question residential typologies
in Doha. When the residential typology in Doha incorporates
some other program beside residential there is a clear difference
developed vertically or horizontally. A border which makes
it just a neighboring program rather than incorporate and intentional,
so that the programs can benefit from each other.
The volume of the building is distributed so mix use program is
set up in the center of the site. Residential units are distributed
on the periphery of the site, enabling units to be two side oriented,
with terraces and gallery access.
The residential units have direct floor to floor access to all mix
use programs such as gym, cafe, restaurants, shops etc. Mix
use program is in the same time accessible for external guests
and inhabitants of the units. Certain floors are fully private
enabling exclusive access to inhabitants to certain programs.
DohAlive is a mixed-use development which addresses the
functional and organizational concerns of public space in the
city of Doha. It introduces unique spatial qualities by fusing the
mixed-use program with the surrounding community and by
connecting it to the urban fabric. This connectivity infiltrates the
project with a series of interconnected spaces through the mass
of the building providing visual connectivity and interest while at
the same time flooding the spaces with natural light. The use of
transparent and permeable surfaces are used to spatially and
visually connect Hotel and Retail areas, further aided by the
curvilinear shapes and sophisticated angles which encourage
fluid mobility and exploration.
N E W S L A T A
New Slata is a new approach for a mixed-use building in the
Middle East where multiple uses come together to complement
each other and the surrounding community. The building
houses eight different uses of commercial and community
programs. The uses are organized like Islamic patterns where
every program intersection acts as a node. The intersections of
spaces become hybrid programs acting as micro-urbanisms of
intensified centres of cross-collaboration.
Set among sand, sea and rocky terrain, the resort’s Main Building
eliminates physical and visual barriers by forming a relationship
with its surroundings and blurring the distinction between
manipulated and actual topography. The building accommodates
the resort’s main food and beverage outlets, front and
back-of-house areas, and public and leisure facilities. The
building attempts to tackle the resort industry’s largest obstacle,
“how can program adapt to seasonality”? The building’s unique
temporal arrangement of program addresses this obstacle. In
embracing topography, the building experience is intensified by
the different circulation paths, relative to distance and time.
U A K T I
Uakti is a Brazilian instrumental musical group that is composed of
Marco Antonio Guimaraes, Artur Andres Ribeiro , Paulo Sergio Santos
, and Decio Ramos . Uakti is known for using custom-made instruments,
built by the group itself. The site is placed in the middle of forest
of the University park in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The
institute of culture of Minas Gerais wanted to create a building for
bend, like an honor for they work. Programme is consisted of auditorium-concert
place, memorial center, place for workshops, administration
and study rooms for the group. Concept of the project was to
position activities, opening to trees that are surrounding the site.
Programme was divided in three cylinders with theme for every
cylinder : auditorium, memorial center with workshops and less public
space with study rooms for the bend. All the time we were leading in
the project by concept of the group, that is using : custom-made instruments
and playing instrumental music. So goal was to great a inspiring
place, calm, reconciled with nature.Materials used are concrete, glass
and bamboo facade.
Contrary to urban, is green as a way of life.
According to the use of space is divided into three zones: Express
Restaurant, primarily for food employees in the business complex,
but completely open to all guests, a separate a la carte restaurant,
which can be organized banquets, business lunches or other events
and lounge cafe, comfortable and warm place, convenient for longer
visits.
How to actually rest, you need something green, beautiful, fragment
of nature is retreating in the building with wood, and two trees that
follow the movement through space. In this area of New Belgrade is
still a great site. Although a large number of new squares, but still
without spirit of used, identified and experienced place. Not escaping
of that, but just discovering it as the layer, we have decided to leave a
visible concrete ceiling and concrete pillars, and introduce a black
steel as a constructive element of the gallery. Materials: raw concrete,
industrial floor, black panels, furniture from the finest lightwood, green
fabric, sand and black leather gives elegance without much detail.
HOW IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE INFLECTION
The design of the city of Cabo Frio Cultural Center Events and Exhibitions emerges, at first
, from the interpretation of the landscape that surrounds it , in its various characteristics: the
horizon and the water mirror in Araruama Lagoon to the west ; the low buildings and the
layout of the city in the foreground and in the background , the mountains , both east .Even
within the limitations of its range, the architecture, which also includes landscape design
within the boundaries of the area for CCEE , is designed as an articulator of its surroundings.
The proposal balances the different characteristics of its context and become a
physical element of neutralization.Exiting visual axes and surrounding forces, guide the
creation of a grid, the constructed elements ensures greater permeability of flows, especially
for pedestrians , and provide a more harmonious relationship between the city and the
neighboring new set .In the vertical direction, the main program is suspended from the
ground, to preserve the connection between street and lagoon. Aims to qualify this space -
ground plan - as essentially public place like a park – implementing a choice of leisure and
entertainment for the population and tourists .A multidirectional network of paths stands out
from the ground, leading to a second level of pathways for pedestrians and cyclists - a
promenade - from which the visual relationship with the landscape is marked, free from the
interference of cars.Through a helical ramp the ground floor connects to a suspended
boardwalk called “super-lobby”. This lobby is a live and intense network of paths running
through the four halls at a mezzanine level and distributes the flow of visitors, allowing free
movement and stay up control points for access to lounges.
The city of Basel meets its living room. The concept interpretates what would be
the living room of the city. We understand that a city living room should be as a
hub that stands between the intense city’s urban fabric and the calmness of its
private establishments. We bring together a place of routine activities: meet,
read, chat, eat, with a not less important, platform of information and culture
exchange. The pavilion should be a common ground, of city inhabitants and
tourists to create a pleasant environment for gathering.Maximizing the potential
of the site, project centralizes 3 pedestrian flows into unique junction. Built
structure of the pavilion is mainly underground enabling the continuity of city life.
The geometry frames pedestrian flows creating two stages. Ground one, the
‘city stage’, and underground one ‘art stage’, nucleus of art program. These two
stages accommodate in parallel different programs, creating different scenarios
of use depending of the need or seasonal weather condition. The ‘art stage’
enables art exchange and platform for different art events. The screen with
main information for tourists is also placed there. With a big floor map of Basel
placed on the stage itself, it connects to screen from which users can choose a
theme of the museum depending on their area of interest , see where is it on the
floor map, how long it takes to get there, as well buy the ticket. It is possible also
to generate bespoke tour, or get to know other places in Basel. Stepping on the
stages user become an active participant in art and public life of the city.
The bridge is generally regarded as a transitory ,directional space, where the
housing as a non directional, stationary one. At the same time, the first one can
be regarded as a fast space and the second one as a slow space. The definition
of the space as either one or the other is given by the ration of transitory speed
and programmatic load. The project addresses the specific site condition given
by the juxtaposition of the directional and non directional space typology by
understanding the bridge as an experience of crossing. The solution offers the
possibility to disconnect from the city, observing it from a different perspective,
while slowing down from the everyday life rhythm. In order to achieve the above
mentioned goals(disconnect and slow down) we have proposed an integrated
system of sequential events within the transitional field, mixing public and
private spaces. The result offers a multitude of perspectives which challenges
the visual and emotional perception of the passer-by,as well as the one of the
resident ,forced to interact on a common ground. The housing programmatic
layout and orientation are defined by Moldava River presence, being
developed on two levels for maximum panorama. The second challenge was
how to define the private backyard of the residential in relation to the environment
and the public space. The choice of placing the parking spaces on the
river banks and promoting only the pedestrian and bicycle access on the site
enhances our above mentioned attitude regarding the crossing experience and
the moment .
Rehabilitation of the Museum is the opportunity to come within the existing structures, layers of cultural
and historical heritage, opening it to the demystification of its inclusion in the public life of the city, through
the dynamic communication space, programs and users. The solution provides a space that is aesthetically
"purified" and "open", a simplified functional and rational, structurally "facilitated" by removing all
unnecessary, and multifaceted program through the membrane to the heavy layering of all open spaces
and a unified core. This despite "impenetrable" facade sends the message that there is nothing to hide and
mystified, that relations between old / new, hard / soft, internal / external fluid and above all we consider
the dynamic of modernarchitectural concepts. The primary parameter which led to the setting solution is
to streamline the communication scheme up and improve, and at the same time offer new spaces and an
environment that opens new possibilities for typological organization settings, as well as new supporting
facilities that already Museum has a need to organize, but had not have adequate space capacity.
Primarily refers to content that will include meeting more people in the area that should function as a
natural extension of the public space of the square. The solution was created through extensive research
into the needs of museums and manipulation of existing building structure, using primarilymethods:
withdrawal, then merge the existing space and the "wrapping" layers and communication gaps that make
existing static dynamic structure of the house.Wrapping procedure was carried out two-way: from the
inside out-from the central "cavity" to full membrane, and out-facilitating inward current structure gradually
towards the central core. Thus the two central staircase protected atrium bathed in light, associated with
new galleries and panoramic glass elevators form a central free space, and then attaches them to the
simplified main horizontal communication in a ring, which connects the existing exhibition spaces in the
area "between" hard skins and central cavity.Wrapping procedure was carried out two-way: from the inside
out, from the central "cavity" to full membrane. The central staircases, new galleries and panoramic glass
elevators form a central free space, attached to main horizontal communication in a ring.Museum of
integration rather than fragmentation, provides information in perception of transformable space that is
able to respond to the dynamic of new processes.
Republic of Serbia approach strategy should be based on forming new
image for the country that should start with more comprehensive representation
at upcoming exhibitions. Considering this is the first presentation
for Serbia, new image is necessary, one free from closure, violence
and disputing that was presented in the media for too long. Serbia should
offer idea that presents will to cooperate, to interact and communicate
within all cultural systems without losing its identity. Here we point out the
act of GIVING as an authentic quality of our culture and universal method
of communication, which can assure that in aggressive, dynamic environment
that markets technical progress, visitor can stop, rest, think, not to
forget but to remember and preserve experience of his visit to pavilion.
This interactivity in the opening process is represented with physical
opening of the hermetic box, whose parts visitors take away so they also
take part in the opening process, and in the same time they receive gifts
– parts of the pavilion and parts of our culture authentic product. In the
end of this exhibition process of visiting and giving pavilion disappears,
dissolve and drowns into the surrounding environment, representing
non-invasiveness and consideration for others.
