Mach<strong>in</strong>es<br />

Provide High-<br />

Efficiency<br />

Production<br />

for Large-Part<br />

Manufacturers<br />

There has recently been an <strong>in</strong>creased<br />

demand for mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g large gears for<br />

use <strong>in</strong> w<strong>in</strong>d turb<strong>in</strong>e gearboxes, m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

equipment, and so on. And although<br />

<strong>the</strong> world economy cont<strong>in</strong>ues to<br />

struggle, that demand is expected to<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>ue as w<strong>in</strong>d turb<strong>in</strong>e generators<br />

and construction equipment recover.<br />

While most gear mach<strong>in</strong>es manufactured<br />

by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries<br />

N E W S<br />

Ltd. (MHI) have been used for automotive<br />

products, <strong>the</strong> company <strong>in</strong>tends to<br />

actively pursue <strong>the</strong> market for largergear<br />

mach<strong>in</strong>es <strong>in</strong> order to w<strong>in</strong> more<br />

orders. Witness <strong>the</strong> large-gear gr<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g<br />

mach<strong>in</strong>e ZGA2000 and large-gear hobb<strong>in</strong>g<br />

mach<strong>in</strong>e GEA1200 as products<br />

that provide highly efficient, highly<br />

accurate mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.<br />

ZGA2000 Large-<strong>Gear</strong> Gr<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Mach<strong>in</strong>e<br />

The ZGA2000 is a gear gr<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g<br />

mach<strong>in</strong>e capable of handl<strong>in</strong>g workpiece<br />

diameters up to 2,000 mm. A<br />

high mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g accuracy is required<br />

dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> gear gr<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g process. In<br />

this process, <strong>the</strong> tooth surfaces of a<br />

gear are ground after heat treatment.<br />

For highly accurate and efficient<br />

mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong> ZGA2000 uses built<strong>in</strong><br />

motors for <strong>the</strong> wheel and dress<br />

sp<strong>in</strong>dles, and a direct-drive motor and<br />

high-stiffness hydrostatic bear<strong>in</strong>g for<br />

<strong>the</strong> worktable sp<strong>in</strong>dle. As a result,<br />

it can reduce mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g time by 20<br />

percent, compared to <strong>the</strong> exist<strong>in</strong>g<br />

ZG1000 model, and it has achieved a<br />

mach<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g accuracy compliant with<br />
