A University of Glasgow & University of St Andrews
study found that even small green spaces in living
environments made a difference to people’s risk of
fatal diseases.

Residents and pupils from Greenwards
Primary School worked with artist Nicola
Atkinson who created a new colouful
footway through the street on a widened
section of path. The footpath has been
laid with inset durable colourful ceramic
pieces. ‘Invent a Game’ artwork by Nicola
Atkinson is seamlessly interwoven into
the design of the street and encourages
people of all ages to engage with the
street playfully.

A younger resident on the street
experimented with watercolour
shapes as part of the process
of developing the ‘Invent a
Game’ artwork.
Bright, glazed ceramic peices
were inset into white concrete
slabs to create the stepping
stone pattern.
Residents also got stuck in with
the gardening, filling the new
planters with colourful shrubs
and flowers.
