Sunday School Curriculum <strong>Grade</strong> <strong>10</strong><br />
The second birth through baptism is not repentance and change <strong>of</strong> thoughts as some<br />
denominations claim; but repentance is <strong>the</strong> extension <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> baptism in us; <strong>the</strong> second<br />
birth is by water and spirit.<br />
The Sayings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Fa<strong>the</strong>rs:<br />
St. Cyril <strong>the</strong> Great: ―The Souls <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> baptized are enlightened by receiving <strong>the</strong> knowledge <strong>of</strong><br />
God‖.<br />
St. Justin <strong>the</strong> Martyr: ―This washing is called enlightenment because those who learn <strong>the</strong>se<br />
matters are enlightened in <strong>the</strong>ir minds‖<br />
Applications:<br />
The quiet spiritual contemplation on <strong>the</strong> blessings <strong>of</strong> baptism that each one <strong>of</strong> us has<br />
received. Collecting situations and verses from <strong>the</strong> holy Bible where <strong>the</strong> Lord revealed<br />
Himself, from both <strong>the</strong> Old and New Testaments.<br />
The students study some rituals <strong>of</strong> baptism and <strong>the</strong>ir relationship with light such as <strong>the</strong><br />
white clo<strong>the</strong>s, <strong>the</strong> lit candles surrounding <strong>the</strong> baptized in <strong>the</strong> procession that takes place<br />
after baptism.<br />
