insisted on following this method <strong>of</strong> preaching.<br />

benefiting from preaching. He spent one and a half year in Corinth with Priscilla and Aquila<br />

IV. The Third Missionary Journey<br />

Paul left Priscilla and Aquila in Ephesus where he preached very few people. On his way back<br />

he visited <strong>the</strong> churches <strong>of</strong> Galatia and Phrygia and streng<strong>the</strong>ned <strong>the</strong> believers and <strong>the</strong><br />

disciples.<br />

In Ephesus<br />

Apollos <strong>the</strong> Jew had been in Ephesus and Priscilla and Aquila preached him. Apollos went to<br />

Corinth but St. Paul served <strong>the</strong> Jewish believers who received <strong>the</strong> baptism <strong>of</strong> John, and <strong>the</strong>n<br />

he served all <strong>the</strong> Jews in <strong>the</strong> Synagogue. The word <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord kept spreading and growing<br />

stronger. Faith drove <strong>the</strong> believers to burn <strong>the</strong>ir pagan books <strong>the</strong> price <strong>of</strong> which was 50,000<br />

pieces <strong>of</strong> silver.<br />

St. Paul <strong>the</strong> apostle spent three years <strong>the</strong>re but Demetrius who made silver models <strong>of</strong> temples<br />

and idols stirred <strong>the</strong> people against him.<br />

During his stay in Ephesus he faced many troubles. At that time he was ga<strong>the</strong>ring some<br />

money from <strong>the</strong> churches <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> gentiles to send it to <strong>the</strong> poor people <strong>of</strong> Jerusalem. But sad<br />

news came to him; <strong>the</strong> churches <strong>of</strong> Galatia and Corinth deviated from <strong>the</strong> right way. He was<br />

greatly sad. It is possible that he had written his letters to <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Galatia and Corinth at<br />

that time.<br />

In Macedonia<br />

He visited <strong>the</strong> church<br />

In Achaia<br />

He went to Achaia, South <strong>of</strong> Greece and he was compelled to go back to Macedonia because<br />

<strong>the</strong> Jews were plotting against him.<br />

In Troas<br />

He preached by night. The young man sitting by a window listening to St. Paul‘s preaching<br />

fell down from <strong>the</strong> third floor and St. Paul went down and threw himself on him held him and<br />

healed him.<br />

The return to Jerusalem<br />

The whole group sailed from Troas to Jerusalem. On <strong>the</strong>ir way to Jerusalem <strong>the</strong>y visited many<br />

churches. He greeted <strong>the</strong>m all and advised <strong>the</strong>m to stick to <strong>the</strong> word <strong>of</strong> God. He knew that<br />

<strong>the</strong>y would never see him again (Acts 20:25).<br />

Note: The servant should read this farewell letter as it has a deep spiritual pastoral effect and<br />

convey it to your students.<br />
