IV. The Christian Joy<br />
(Rejoice in <strong>the</strong> Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice)<br />
Christianity is <strong>the</strong> religion <strong>of</strong> spiritual joy- She knows - no anxiety- no fear- no pain.<br />
Christianity is <strong>the</strong> religion <strong>of</strong> salvation and salvation is joy. She is <strong>the</strong> religion <strong>of</strong> heavenly<br />
beings. She soars with <strong>the</strong> soul to <strong>the</strong> Cherubim and Seraphim and shares <strong>the</strong> heavenly hosts<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir encouragement.<br />
The church <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Apostles is a church <strong>of</strong> joy in spite <strong>of</strong> severe persecution. The Acts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Apostles says: ―And <strong>the</strong> disciples were filled with joy and with <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit‖.<br />
V. How to Develop <strong>the</strong> Spirit <strong>of</strong> Joy in Our Life?<br />
Liberation from sin (The joy <strong>of</strong> Salvation).<br />
Trust in <strong>the</strong> promises <strong>of</strong> God and faith with complete submission.<br />
The unity <strong>of</strong> fellowship with <strong>the</strong> believers.<br />
Singing hymns <strong>of</strong> praise: rejoice, be perfect, be <strong>of</strong> good comfort, be <strong>of</strong> one mind, and live in<br />
peace and <strong>the</strong> God <strong>of</strong> love and peace shall be with you (2 Corinthians 13:11).<br />
VI. What Weakens <strong>the</strong> Life <strong>of</strong> Joy?<br />
Enslavement to sin (David wet his bed by his tears after his fall).<br />
Being upset by life circumstances.<br />
Selfishness and self-centeredness.<br />
Testing and indifference that are <strong>the</strong> signs <strong>of</strong> separation and invert suffering and repentance.<br />
VII. Characteristics <strong>of</strong> Christian Joy<br />
Spiritual.<br />
Innate- it fills <strong>the</strong> heart with peace.<br />
Firm and fixed- well established (Your Joy no man can take it from you).<br />
Calm-reverent- like St. Mary‘s joy with <strong>the</strong> good news.<br />
It overcomes afflictions and cases ―When <strong>the</strong> cases <strong>of</strong> my Heart are many, <strong>the</strong>y consolations<br />
cheer my soul‖.<br />
Conclusion:<br />
As Christians we should always be joyful and fill o<strong>the</strong>rs with <strong>the</strong> same joy inside us.<br />
Applications:<br />
The servant gives <strong>the</strong> students a copy <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> New Testament to study <strong>the</strong> epistle during<br />
<strong>the</strong> remainder <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> week, chapter-by-chapter, concentrating on <strong>the</strong> spiritual<br />
contemplation and practical application.<br />
The servant gives some questions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Epistle such as:<br />
1. What do you know about <strong>the</strong> city <strong>of</strong> Philippi, <strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> Philippi and <strong>the</strong><br />
coming <strong>of</strong> Christianity to that city?<br />
