for Aerial Work Platform Training to become a certified trainer.<br />
He now can train any Facilities Management employee who uses<br />
aerial work platform lifts.<br />
Housekeeping & Grounds<br />
<strong>The</strong> Housekeeping & Grounds Work Group maintains the<br />
cleanliness and appearance <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ohio</strong> Judicial Center’s<br />
grounds, secured <strong>of</strong>fice areas and the <strong>Court</strong>room. In 2008, the<br />
Housekeeping & Grounds staff began using green cleaning<br />
chemicals, which use environmentally friendly ingredients and<br />
provide a healthier work environment for staff and visitors.<br />
Mail Center<br />
During 2008, the Mail Center staff processed 336,173 pieces<br />
<strong>of</strong> mail bound for the U.S. Postal Service. Including inter<strong>of</strong>fice,<br />
express and other mail, staff processed more than 600,000<br />
pieces <strong>of</strong> mail. Taking advantage <strong>of</strong> lower presort rates on<br />
169,748 pieces, the <strong>Court</strong> saved $11,797 in postage expenses.<br />
Meetings & Events<br />
<strong>The</strong> Meetings & Events Work Group schedules <strong>Ohio</strong> Judicial<br />
Center conference rooms, plans special functions and supports<br />
other events hosted in the <strong>Ohio</strong> Judicial Center. <strong>The</strong> group<br />
also lends assistance for <strong>of</strong>f-site meetings, conferences and<br />
seminars on an as-needed basis. Meetings & Events staff set up<br />
the <strong>Court</strong>room, Justices’ robing room, deliberation room and<br />
attorney waiting rooms when the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> is in session.<br />
In 2008, the group set up 1,241 meetings and events, hosting<br />
about 20,371 participants. Meetings and conferences supported<br />
by this group included functions for pr<strong>of</strong>essional organizations<br />
in the legal and judicial community, the arts, and historical<br />
and educational groups. Groups using the <strong>Ohio</strong> Judicial<br />
Center for events included the American Bar Association, <strong>Ohio</strong><br />
<strong>State</strong> Bar Foundation, <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>State</strong> Bar Association, Columbus<br />
Bar Association, Akron Bar Association, <strong>Ohio</strong> Association <strong>of</strong><br />
Magistrates and <strong>Ohio</strong> Association for <strong>Court</strong> Administration.<br />
<strong>The</strong> staff also hosted seminars and moot court for the <strong>Ohio</strong><br />
Attorney General’s Office. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Ohio</strong> Legal Aid Foundation held<br />
its quarterly board meeting in the building, and the Columbus<br />
Historical Society hosted a book signing and reception. <strong>The</strong><br />
