• Installation <strong>of</strong> a digital certificate program using the<br />
Micros<strong>of</strong>t digital certificate system to validate a user is<br />
on a court-managed computer.<br />
• Completion <strong>of</strong> the OCN pilot phase and<br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> the OCN system in July 2008.<br />
• Negotiation <strong>of</strong> a contract with OCN partner vendors,<br />
Unisys Corp and Metatomix, to continue the rollout <strong>of</strong><br />
OCN statewide.<br />
• Training <strong>of</strong> about 600 users on OCN throughout the<br />
year.<br />
• Installation <strong>of</strong> a trouble-ticketing system for the OCN<br />
help desk, which allows the help desk staff to better<br />
track calls and other requests.<br />
With the end <strong>of</strong> the OCN pilot phase in 2008, the <strong>Court</strong>’s<br />
Information Technology staff began connecting OCN to court<br />
case-management systems across the state. As <strong>of</strong> January 2009,<br />
about 10 courts were in full production, and another 35 to 40<br />
courts were scheduled for connectivity in early 2009. <strong>The</strong> OCN<br />
staff intends to have 80 percent <strong>of</strong> the state’s court cases loaded<br />
into OCN by the end <strong>of</strong> 2009.<br />
More than 220 courts signed memoranda <strong>of</strong> understanding<br />
with the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> in 2008 and more than 1,500 users<br />
were granted access to OCN.<br />
Aside from OCN development, Information Technology staff<br />
dedicated numerous resources to serving <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> staff<br />
on other projects. Highlights include:<br />
• Establishment <strong>of</strong> virtual server environments in the<br />
OCN and <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> networks to maximize the<br />
use <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Court</strong>’s servers and to increase data capacity.<br />
• Completion <strong>of</strong> the online version <strong>of</strong> the biennial<br />
technology survey <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ohio</strong> courts.<br />
• Development <strong>of</strong> a new bar admissions system to<br />
manage the bar admissions application and tracking<br />
process.<br />
• Development <strong>of</strong> a judges tracking system to automate<br />
tracking <strong>of</strong> the judgeships and judges <strong>of</strong> the state.<br />
• Addition <strong>of</strong> two appellate courts to the Appeals <strong>Court</strong><br />
Case Management system.<br />
